I have a hatchling Naja kaouthia that doesn't want to feed. I've tried f/t pinky mice and I've tried exposing the brains. I tried a live pinky and still no luck. Is it better to feed in the cage or in a smaller feed container? Any ideas why he won't eat? Thanks in advance!

Hi. Kaouthia youngsters are often shy and high strung. If they feel threatened, they don't eat. Leave the dead food in the cage over night. Make sure the animal has enough cover and the temperature's not too low (more than 25°C). Otherwise, don't worry too much. Haven't heard of any kaouthia that didn't eventually eat. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I'll try leaving the pinks in overnight and see if that does the trick.

Hello,
What I have found is they go to the same spot to rest/sleep. I make sure the pinky/fuzzy is where they rest/sleep. 9 times out of 10 they will eat it. If they do not. Try a fuzzy instead of a pinky, and vice versa.
Hope this helps.
