Hey do any of you guys know where non-venomous snakes hide? All I have success in finding in the wild are "hots". I enjoy dealing with "hots" but I need to get experience with non-venomous.
Thanks Alot

Nate,
Well heck, it sounds like you are doing great if you are finding snakes at all. (Especially venomous ones.) Different kinds of non-venomous snakes hide in different places. Basically you just need to look under ANY kind of debris found in nature. But venomous and non-venomous snakes often occupy the same habitat. If you are looking for a specific species, there are specific places to look.
There are 2 books that I would suggest you purchase: "Peterson's Field Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians", and "Snake Hunting the Carolina Tin Fields". Look in the Review section of this website - category Books. The books are listed and there are links directly to Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble - bn.com - to buy them. These are 2 good starter books.
Note: Because venomous herpetology is a specialized field of study, the products involved - tools, cages and books - can be rather expensive. If you buy both of those books, it will cost around $40.
PS: You need to give us a better photo of yourself on that profile Nate. Thanks for taking the time to fill out your profile though!
