I'm going hunting this weekend (deer hunting) and the club that I am in is great habitat for the Timber Rattlesnake(Crotalus horridus),and the Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix mokeson. What I'm wanting to know is, what are my chances of finding either of them if I look this weekend? The hunting club is located in Wilkes County (Georgia) on the Georgia, South Carolina Border.
Any Information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brandon

Wilks county does have a decent size canebrake population they tend to be spotty in the county mainly found in areas along the river. and areas of abandoned agriculture. Copperheads are fairly common but pigmies are the most common terrestrial venomous specie for that area of GA. or atleast in the times I have visited the area and from a friend of mine who hunts extensivley in that county this time of year you may find one sunning itself infront of a hole in a stump, rock piles, and slabpiles are good too. Good luck both for the snakes and for the deer .
