Zeth,
The best person for you to contact would be Paul Rowley, at the Alistair Reid Venom Research Unit (ARVRU).

Hope this helps.

Im tired of all these people without filled out profiles or posting as anonymous, making disrespectful remarks to proven responible long time members of this site. If you would lik to be taken seriously fill it out. There are proper ways of going about discussing controvercial topics and informing others of your opinion without crossing the barrier of redicuous and making this discussion board look like a joke. I as well as the rest of our devoted members would appreciate it.
Getting back to the topic at hand. The facilities currently used for venom extraction require all different kinds of knowledge to operate. Knowledge ranging from legal to herpetologial, as well as all kinds of standard operating procedures for such a place to function through legit means.
As many of you know I have been a member of this site for quite some time and I have learned alot from the other members. For thoes of you who are new, please be mature and respectful enough to understand everyone has there one way of doing things. Whether they are right, wrong or otherwise people are entitled to their opinion and people shouldnt be shot down for asking a question no matter how obvious or complicated the answer may be. Keep it respectful and intellectual please!!!
Thanks, Eric

Paul McDonald, If you can't act/speak/type/maturely, please take your comments to another website. This is a well respected forum that is read by children as well as adults. Take your trash talk elsewhere. Take care, Marty

After reading this thread, I found myself having to chime in especially regarding the comments made by "BUD". No offense BUD, but I noticed you are in St. Petersburg, FL. I have lived in Tampa for over 17 years, and have never heard of you. Before you fire back trying to say "So what does that mean?" It means I have specialized in the treatment of snakebites for over 20 years (17 of those in Tampa)and at no time have I ever heard of you or your venom research, seen anything published by you, or heard you speak at any professional conference.
You speak of arrogance, well let me just say that you come across as someone who lets their arrogance outshine their intelligence. Anyone who would brag about being bitten numerous times, and say they will never need a hospital for an envenomation because of self-immunization is an absolute idiot. Bill Haast self immunized, but still went to the hospital. And for you to refer to people as "Fingerless fools" makes you an even bigger idiot. You are essentially calling people like Jim Harrison of the Kentucky Reptile Zoo, George Van Horne, etc a fingerless fool...hey! Bill Haast self immunized and he was missing a few digits. I would encourage any new keeper or even experienced keeper to take BUD's comments for what they are...idiotic! Just my 2 cents.

Hi there,
I am looking for training with regard to handling vemous snakes. I currently own 4 snakes myself 2 corns, 1 royal python and a western hognose but am really interested in venemous snakes and would like to get some experience with handling them before one day working with them in some capacity... Do you still provide training and at what cost , location etc...
