Dan,
I went out and bought a book (my answer for almost anything) called "A Field Guide To Reptiles And The Law" by John P. Levell. It gives some great contact info and some great starter level information. It has stood me in good stead for awhile but lately appears to be out of date in some areas (it is the 1995 edition). However, laws are changing as fast as beaurocrats can write them. Your best bet for any individual state is to contact the Fish and Game department and start asking questions. Karl
