I just booked a ticket today to Lima Peru to visit a couple good friends from there. I've always told them my interest in Iquitos and they agreed that it is a place in Peru that shouldn't be excluded if I come. Also my buddy's uncle is mayor of a city nearby which also contains many reptiles. What tips do you guys have on finding contacts for a day of herping or night of road cruising. also any recomendations on a snake stick ideal for packing in a suitcase?

Hi, I'm from Peru, I live in Lima, if you'd like to have a list of species that can be found in Iquitos and near Iquitos just write me an e-mail.
Cheers

Thanks guys. I should have known to check midwest for tongs. I just ordered the new and inproved colaspable tongs. I'm in the process of buying some land with friends 7 miles from the pacific in Costa Rica so they will come to good use plus I do a bit of backpacking. I'm interested in a species list for Iquitos ibusby28@hotmail.com and any more tips you guys have to offer. I don't know about shipping an Anaconda back but a smaller nonvenomous species would be cool just to have a snake I caught in the Amazon(just sounds cool). Any more tips are welcome. Thanks....Ian

Here's a tip: How about just taking a picture of a snake caught in the Amazon? Now THAT sounds "cool"!!

Thanks I will. I wasn't planning on taking a trip to exploit the Amazon of all its snakes. All my snakes are captive born, but if I was going to bring a wild caught snake home as suggested earlier in this post maybe the Amazon jungle would probably be an area where it would have the least impact. In fact if I took it off the road I may be saving its life anyway. My top priory however is just to see a few in there natural habitat.
