Is there any vaccination, surpression, or cure for paramyxo virus? I have a c. atrox and a c. ruber ruber that have it and I want to know what I can do to save their lives, but still get new snakes. Can anyone help me?

			Dear Friend,

There is no cure for paramyxovirus. At this point the best thing you can do is make sure that nothing that these two snakes have come in contact with is not allowed anywhere near others.

Clorox bleach is the absolute best disinfectant for this virus.

It is though to spread primarily through mucous droplets from the "sneezing." As these droplets are minute, the travel fairly well in the air. Separate the rest of your collection [it's best to break up the collection into as many different places as possible].

You should not anything new for a few months - at least.

I hope this helps though I know it's not encouraging.

Dr. Elliot Jocabson at the University of Gainsville is THE expert on this subject and I believe he has a website devoted to it. You could search his name and the virus and probably find it.

Sorry to hear about your OPMV infection in your collection.

Here is the website the other responder refered to.
