If the snake is 200lbs, it is in the upper umpteen, perhaps 20ft + range. I recommend sewing two sheets together. Check your stictching. Make sure it's tight. Basically just make a bag and tie it off.
Rubbermaid makes large containers. You will have to investigate yourself whether your snake can fit into it or not. If not, you will need to construct one from wood. Whatever container you use, it would be nice of you to put some towels or some sort of substrate to disolve waste. If you find a suitable rubbermaid, drill holes around the lips, and install "zip-ties" every 1".
Label accordingly, send via airline. It cracks me up when people say, "It's too big, i can't ship" They can.

The reason some people say they can't ship big snakes is very simply that...they can't ship big snakes. True, you can pack up basically any size snake into whatever size required crate and ship it via the airlines. However, to ship through the airlines one must either, 1. be verified with the airline if need be, or 2. be close enough to a major airport to ship through them. Let's say I weren't verified with Delta. I am, but that's of no consequence. Even to ship through them, the trip is 1.5 hrs there, 1.5 hrs back, that is if traffic is nice and there are no delays at the terminal. Usually though, that entails a 4 hour round trip when all is said and done. That's a big chunk of the day. However, if I weren't verified with Delta, my only other option is NWA. Oops...NWA doesn't do snake shipments out of anywhere near my area but Memphis...that's a 3 to 3.5 hr trip one way. That'll sure eat up a day pretty easily. Not only that, but I've found NWA to be extremely tedious in dealing with...temps have to be just right (very narrow range in temps for them to ship, by the way), and conflicting rules depending on whom you speak with regarding packaging, what they'll accept, vet papers, etc. I spent a good few hours one day trying to get a straight answer from NW on whether or not they'd even accept venomous...my local people said they wouldn't, period, the main people said they would...only then to have them tell me that sorry, nowhere here in AR would take snakes in shipment anyway. I'd have to go to Memphis for that. Oh, and be there before 5 am no less because of the temps! lol (get on the road at 2 am latest, anyone, to ship a snake to someone?)
So, the whole point of this is to illustrate that indeed there are sometimes when a person truly can't ship big snakes. Luckily for me, I am verified with Delta and can ship through them. That did take a number of weeks to get completed though, and I imagine most customers would not want to wait that long after they bought something. Just my thoughts anyway.

I forgot to mention, after all of that, Delta is clearly the best choice to use when shipping snakes. NW is too costly, too burdensome, etc. Yeah you have to get verified for Delta, but all that involved for me was having the inspector and his gf come to my house to see my snakes. Not a very big deal. So yeah, I recommend Delta.

That has to be the poorest example and illustration as to why someone could not ship a large snake I have ever seen. It boils down to, "Do you want to sell it or not?". Most herpers I know aren't pansy enough to let such barriers get in their way.
I think everyone is aware that you must be a verified shipper to ship via Delta. NWA requires this too. NWA has always been known for grief. They link with Continental who doesn't do hots.

Ok, you so dont know any pansy's. Arent you special.
Talk about poor examples.........
So, somoene states "It's too much trouble to go thru just to ship this big snake" Fine. It's too much trouble. End of story. Take it for what it is. It doesnt make someone a pansy. They just have their priorities rearranged.
Do the homework, see what your options are, if you dont like them, dont ship the snake.
Your other option would be to cut the snake up into 20lb pieces and ship them seperately as frozen goods.

Have thy WILL, have thy WAY. Where exist an obstacle, there art thou which triumphs and thy pansies. Ye who triumphs, overcomes obstacles. Not so to shy away from the source, which seeks that thy pansy shall not succeed. Hark! For thy rubbermaid boxes doth cost comparable to thy stryo box used for shipping, and thy shipping doth not cost much heavier than thy worldly delta dash markets command. So go thee, amongst thy pansies, and let menial obstacles shackle and enslave thy shipping freedoms, and forever let "big snake tyranny" rule your heart for all thy days to come. Come with me and ye shall freely ship thy big snakes.
Harken my words, and Ye shall add multitudes of years unto thy hot snake collection.

PS It's all about effort. If you won't, that's fine. If you can't, you're probably lazy.

that was funny, though this whole thread is pretty painful.
The Phantom's first reply was by far the most constructive, and pretty much answered the question.
As for NW and Delta...I've found both to be a Pain in the behind....but it depends on the actual counter people. In Newark, NJ, the NW people were vastly SUPERIOR To Delta, who often would let snakes sit in their cold warehouse overnight, or the Delta tools at La Guardia, who insisted on checking the Metal Corner Brackets of the inner box, and insisted on lecturing why THEIR Standards were far superior to IATA....ughh.
NW is more stringent on temp guidelines, BUT you DO NOT need to be verified with them...it does help, and eliminates the box inspection, but still, the NW folks at Newark, had no qualms about looking at the snakes, wondering how dangerous they were.
To answer the original question, If its a big snake, build a big box. If you ask nicely, NW will most likely fax you a copy of the IATA regs for shipping non-venomous snakes. OR do what I did, and fork out the $70 to buy the IATA handbook.

The nice folks at NW from my dimension require an inspection. I summoned them and confirmed this. I guess it's really up to who is behind the counter. It seems their staff is uninformed.
