Does anyone have or know of any available reports on the study of time delay to envenomation effects based on the size/amount of the envenomation from Crotalus species, (ie. Mild, Moderate, Severe)?

Hi Matt
the only info I have refers to the speed relating to the onset of symptoms.ie In general when envenomation has occured swelling becomes apparent within 10-20mins, post bite.In Severe envenomation progressive odema may involve the entire limb within 1-2hrs.On the other hand a less severe envenomation, odema may progress over 1-2 day period.Dr Russell's times are slightly less with odema evidence at 5mins.
Parasthesias and unusual tastes within 15mins.Pain is virtualy immediate with most crotalid bites(USA). Hope this helps a little.
Regards
John

I cannot imagine much delay in the onset of symptoms from a Crotalus bite. However, delay in the onset of symptoms is fairly common in the case of Micrurus bite.
