Generally speaking on the SAIMR, the neurotoxic species take far less than the hemotoxic, (if I may use generalities here). I've heard about 5 vials for mambas and cobras, and 20 for gabs and puff adders etc. A good phone call to make regarding this topic is the Miami-Dade guys, Al and Ernie. Look at the link to the left on the "Antivenom Bank".

Yes, I heard that too. I equate it to the fact that Bitis inject larger amounts of venom, deeper, thus it takes much more A/V to control the bite.
