I have 2 female baby gaboons in the same enclosure. And I have not had any problems with them living together and have had no problems with them at feeding time. I dont see why you would have any troubles. Hope this helps. Bryan

My fault. I didnt see that you posted rhino and gaboon. Personally, I would not keep them together for the reason that the rhino needs more of a humid atmosphere than a gaboon. And the temperature for rhinos are kept a little cooler also. Too much humidity can give your snake a respiratory infection. What may be good for your rhino, may not be good for your gaboon. Bryan

My gaboons do the same thing when I get near there cage. I mist the walls of the cage and the mulch I have on the cage floor. I used warm water when I mist to add to the humidity. I spray the cage about 3x a day. I mist my gaboons about every 3 days when i drag them to the water bowl. The warm water stimulates them to drink from the bowl. Kind of gives a raining effect to them. I found out that when I use warm water to mist them, they dont hiss as bad. I guess it feels good to them. The hissing is a warning to get away from me. Rhinos are more prone to stress easier than gaboons. I would try to mist them when I drag them to the water bowl, about every 3 days. Maybe this will not stress your rhino as bad. Be sure to soak your rhino once a week for about an hour. I am by no means an expert, this is just from my experience and my gaboons are thriving. You dont wanna keep your rhino too wet because of scale rot and infections. Anyways I hope this helps. Bryan

Hi emtnurse. Do you or have you ever used moss in your gaboon enclosure? Theres an article somewhere on this website that is very good for gaboon vipers. You should check it out. The moss seems to hold the misted water and I notice that gaboons seem to like to drink from the moss. Also(you probably already know this) but, you should drag your gabby with a hook to the water bowl and let it drink every day. One question I have. If you drag your gabby to the water bowl too much, have you ever noticed "over drinking" I ask because, Ive seen one that drank alot of water every time he came in contact with the water bowl and once she she got spooked and started hissing a few minutes later and some water came back up. Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

Mine drinks right from a "new sprayer" that was entended for spraying pesticides. They only need to drink once a week....don't over water. Yes, I have seen them bubble water out of their nose.
