Isn't that a good thing? He shouldn't have eye caps. I don't understand what you are saying. If he has eye caps, you and two of your buddies will have to restrain him and remove them. Simple as that.

i think he means that the eye caps didn't come off with the shed. soak her one more time with 3 tbl of peroxide and a fouth a bucket of water. this should take care of the caps and any other areas of bad skin.

This is something you will need to watch for in the future. Cobras are famous for not shedding their eye-caps in captivity. Next time the snake goes blue, raise the humidity in the cage.

anonymous, that is an ignorant responce! There are many things we learn as we go along in this hobby and actually that is a GREAT question to ask at this forum.

Anonymous post removed. If you feel strongly enough about it, repost using your name and language which is acceptable in mixed company (school children use this website as a study resource).
Walt, please do not respond to negative or derogatory anonymous posts. I tend to delete them and that leaves a response which no longer makes sense hanging out there - so I generally remove them too.
I am sure that almost nobody coming into the hobby knew about removing eyecaps until they had a problem with them. It just isn't the kind of thing you study before you get a particular snake.

PS I sure am glad that people are out there to help folks that need help. Wouldn't it be horrible if people stopped asking questions and just let the snakes die because they didn't want to get ridiculed. KHB

for all the school children who may be studying this. Learning to prevent or remove unshed eyecaps are best learned on corn snakes or ball python not cobras.
after saying the normal disclaimers for us 'anonymous posters'
the first eyecap is best left alone. Correcting husbandry and waiting for the next shed is the best course of action. The eyecap will come off with the next successful shed -if husbandry was corrected- Don't worry it will do no harm untl the next shed cycle comes around.
If multiple eyecaps are there, than manual removal is needed. I certainly won't be explaining that one, and I hope no one else does.
Disclaimer two- I am a different anony poster.

Hi:
Yeah, this happens to all of us at one time of another. I agree with the second anonmous poster that it is best left alone for this cycle. It's not going to her the snake long term but you may get hurt trying to remove it. Consider handling a Hot snake for vet. proceedures a last resort. I buy inexpensive bathroom suction cup soap holders that I place a wet sponge on during the opaque period. I keep the humidity high till the animal shed.
Good luck..
Al

Perhaps the eye pygment is reacting to the type of light you have over the cage? What type lighting do you use? JohnZ
