My pair of Gumprechts just gave birth to seven magnificent babies. That's the great news. The depressing news is feeding. I've had baby Popes, eye lash (B. Schlegeli)and a baby O. Hannah before. I had the last baby pope for 18 months before it died (just a few weeks ago). I've heard so many people tel me that they keep all their baby snakes alive well into adulthood. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but as I admire the babies, I fear that they'll all die before reaching adulthood.
They have all shed and are about two weeks old. I have them in shoebox size Rubbermaids. No substrate, just a water dish and something to climb on with very sparse artificial vines. I've tried to offer them the standard pinky head, given to them with the meat at the end of a wire, to reduce the image of a giant trying to kill them. I pop the led, introduce the food and lower the led to keep me ot of view as much as possible. So far, no takers. A lot ot tongue action and a few strikes, but no bites.
I put in a cricket in two of the boxes, trying to see if they'd eat it, hunting it down. Again, nothing, although the crickets were dead within an hour.
So my question is, what do you, the experts, do to get them to eat? I know about the tail teasing, but it hasn't worked for me in the past. What would they do naturally?

A trick that works with Baby Bothriechis nigroviridis is putting a small dish in the cage, with tiny guppies(live). The snakes will sit on the edge of the dish and 'fish'. Odd, but it works.

Phobos here reporting from the United States!!!! I have been freed from captivity by insurgents. I just want to thank the SHHS Special Forces Team, Jermey, Karl, Scooter, and Phillip. I have arrived safely and I am doing fine. My injuries are healing. I never will forget the horriable experience. I was raped on an hourly bases, had to eat my own feces, drink my own urine, do naked pyramid stacks, duct taped at the hips with a dead guy, watch Jennifer Lopez moves.. Ohh God the horror. Thanks for everyones prayers and support.
