Today while at work I was thinking(A very dangerous thing) What if someone started a anti banning web site. The site would have all the states that have ban's and the states that dont also the ones that have permit systems. On this site you could give very good advise to goverment officals also educating them about our hobbie and how a ban would effect us and also how it could actualy do more harm than good They woud be able to go to a site and get all there info without having to read hundreds of letters. Another thing is to add pic's of herp rooms and good and secure cages A actual place were they can see the effort taken to insure the owners and the publics safty, also pic's of the tools used in the trade and maybe some of the more well known herpers like zoo officals, herpetologist, and venom researchers. and others that have positive input about this hobby. Could write a artical about the hobbie. Also add actual statistics about snake bite's wild and captive and relate them to lets say Dog bites and other animals kept.
Just A thought and for the record If I could get the help, and support I would pay for a site like that.

Thinking in never a dangerous idea, acting before thinking is...
I second Doug's comment. Lets see if we can make this happen.

Its not an Anti-Ban website but much of what you have asked is being worked on for IEAKA.com Myself and Randy have been taking it slow and mythodical to try and make it that way and put the most current info possible on it.We havent really made it publicly known yet but have a look and if you can add to the states laws or international laws please do so.

I'll contribute a well thought-out statement of support. As long as it is a source for solid information and stays the course.

That is the idea Doug. One reason we havent really let it out much is we are trying to gather all the info possible and accurately before making it to public. It honestly came from a time i was very disgusted about herps do to many reasons and Randy had a long talk with me and got my spirits back up the site is what really got me out of a bad slump and reminds me daily of my love for the hobby and animals.
I actually have been working on the California laws for some time and it drives me crazy trying to get the information it seems everytime i think i got it i find a contradiction to it and for this site we wanted 100% accuracy. There are many people involved in the site trying to get all the right facts and as you can see its been a work in progress and still is.
We hope in time to have chapters in every state as part of diffrent society meetings to try and tie in all exotic keepers not just reptiles but big cats, bats, lions, tgers, bears oh my. sorry could not pass it up. Any ideas you have are more than welcome.

The NC Association of Reptile Keepers is working on a site that will be similar in nature to what has been discribed. We have had some measure of success in stopping Senate Bill 1032 banning many animals, including reptiles, in NC. Our mission is to promote responsible ownership of reptiles through education, conservation and captive breeding. We are creating a code of ethics, setting up guidelines for proper husbandry and caging, as well as providing resourses for Vets, rescue/rehab and AV. We also feel that community outreach is vital to educating the public in regards to these fasinating creatures. We are acting as a watchdog and PAC to insure our rights into the future. We want to demonstrate how responsible keepers are capable of working at a very sophisticated level; insuring the safety and well being of the animalks and people involved. The site is still underconstruction. We have the best people from around the state working hard to make this happen.
