It was me, stupid to say. What did I learn from this bite? Instead of just dividind the cage with a shield I now remove all snakes from the cage and use my tongs for dish removal. I even have taken the steps to remove the hide box when the snake is locked in it and put the whole thing into a empty cage. I also learned that morphine will kill me so gald to learn that now rather than after a bad car accident or something of the such. Some good came out of it and more precaution is now taken with all of my reptiles.

I want to thank everyone who stood up for me. It`s no big thing for me to admit a mistake. I just want other people to learn from them and try not to do what I did. I`m sure that all of the people who criticised me commited far worst mistakes at one point or another. I don`t blame y`all for it. I too have to say that this site has helped me, probably more than anything else in my herping years. I`ve met a lot of respectable, knoledgeble people with whom to share info, tips and experience. Take care everyone...& happy herping !

I've been keeping hots a long time and have kept crotalus and agkistrodons caged together(except piscivorous) without ever a mishap. One copperhead got bitten by another once while chasing a mouse, after that I always seperate them when feeding.NEVER in almost 30 years has anything other than tongs or hooks or mice entered ANY hot cage at ANY time while the snake was in the cage. My only close calls have been in the field, and those are few.Always think safety.Marty
