I find Jeff very funny, the type of person, who I would get along with simply because of his demented(sp?) humor BUT, I know that on some projects, they hire locals to locate snakes for them. Is this a bad thing? No, obviously, they aren't EXPERTS at finding everything. They can't, its impossible. The best snake hunters are usually local animal trappers or (e.g. in Costa Rica, old gold miners).
They may appear to discover everything in situ for the show, but it rarely happens like that. The economics of producing a show wouldn't allow you to just walk along and wait to film animals as you discover them. Well, actually, Costa Rica may be one of the few places you COULD do it. It's not terribly difficult to find a terciopelo---contrary to what Austin Stevens would like you to believe.

Just my 2 cents, I've always felt like Jeff and Mark deserve high marks in the "respect" category. Seems to me they really do things well and would be excellent guys to sit around the campfire with.

Did you guys see Jeff Corwin touch that sidewinder mid body with his bare hands a few times on t.v.? I didnt have a problem with it but I noticed that when Austin Stevens or Steve Irwin touch a snake like that everyone has an anuerysm. He knows what he is doing and again, I dont have a problem with him at all, but thats the first time I saw Jeff Corwin handle a snake in that manner.

I am only partial to one, and that is Jeff. I am posting anonymous because I am one of Jeff's camera men. It is true that if we are shooting a show on a certain snake, and it can not be found, we will use a captive animal to complete our show. Mr. Corwin is a good guy and a pleasure to work with. He is a very careful man and his skills and knowledge know no boundries. We hope you keep watching the show and we hope you learn valuable information from it. Thanks again.

I have one question. Is the show now called "Corwins Quest" or is "Jeff Corwin Experience" and "Corwins Quest" two different shows? I agree, Jeff is an amazing herpetologist and he seems like a cool guy all around. He definetly is one of the most knowledgable people that I can think of in the herp community.

its poss. but austin seems a bit to pre planned with strategically placed camera men but corwin and o shea seem to be as close to the "real deal" as far as i can see but any time spent in either mans company would be an enlightening experience im sure most will agree as im stuck in england and have only the adder to deal with so this viewing is essential to my learning both of snakes all reptiles and true nature photography as i can only try to re-create "scenes" anyway hope you continue to enjoy them and one last thought even cooled they are still capable and will try to defend themselfs very quickly so even if the snake in question was cooled i certainly wouldnt trust a venomoid even if i knew it and its mum and dad really well! so the story is corwin is an amazing man aswell as all people who take on the task to prove all snakes are a true wonder of nature. these shows do an amazing job of this and i commend them . thanks keyz
