---Guns aren't dangerous at all until someone picks it up and pulls the triger.Venomous snakes are always dangerous.Marty---
but what can a snake do to you from 25 yards away?
it's just sad that people aren't more responsible with guns....
and anonymous.....here's my address, just let me know when you're on the way and i'll put up the dogs

Again, a gun will do nothing at 25 yards or 25 inches unless someone pulls the trigger.Theres alot of snakes out there that will kill you dead as Elvis from 25 inches without any human interference. And there aren't even close to as many venomous snakes in peoples homes as there are firearms across the country,so I'm not sure you're point holds water. You say there are more venomous snakes than guns, maybe, but the snakes are out in the wild, the guns are in homes, wheres the comparison?I'm not trying to start something, maybe I just missed your point?

Shot, stabbed and keeping hots? What a crazy world. A good example of what not to emulate. Responsible keepers should avoid high profile/drama situations that reflect negatively on the hobby. Threats too? Very nice guys... grow up!

well i have guns and i keep snakes currently no proper hots as im in england i have also got a wonderful3 year old and if for one moment i thought that either of my hobbies would endanger him i wouldnt do it accidents happen idiots can get guns but idiots can also get hots i suppose this perspective is different as england aint full of wild hots but theyre there if u look hard enough. p.s it seems more difficult to get the dangerous wild animals lisence i need than to apply for a shotgun certificate. as i have been informed by my local police that "no one in wiltshire is gonna get one of those bloody things" i think he meant the d.w.a. but could have been the snake i want. but atleast every other person here in rural england owns a shot gun and the only time that a gun will be dangerous in most responsible peoples hands is when some prick tries breaking in or hurtin ur family. this is the way it is cant stop it,only hope another persons view will help maybe not but i love my son, my guns, my snakes and also collect knives. they are all part of everyday life that if controlled and respected should not do any harm but people are the biggest problem in this as we can see there are plenty of real genuine people and about the same amount of idiots we cant weed them all out . thats what licensing is for but even thats flawed. really cant reach a conclusion as in bias anyway.

It ALL boils down to responsible ownership!!! Guns,Dogs,Hots Ect...I own 6 guns 3 German Shepherds and too many hots:). I also have secure dog runs a gun safe and a secure hot room.I have years of experience dealing with hots, training dogs and shooting(now on a competition level.) I have never been tagged by a hot.I have never been shot or shot anyone.Well......I guess I have been bitten by a dog...lol but its the nature of the beast when you Schutzhund training with dogs.My point is responsible ownership, adult choices and proper training can make just about anything safe or safer.

well said responsibility is the key I love my snakes sadly my most hot snake is soon to be a western hog or a fwc as no dwa required point of fact i recive alot of problems shooting wild pest species by people who know nothing of me why im there and that i have a genuine respect for all animals ex. last year sorry 2003 i only shot rabbits with a terrible diseaese that causes sickening deformaties to eyes puss filled fur falling out and its fleas that cause this neway i shot approx.250 infected rabbits this is a man made disease that is becoming a real eco problem. but this topic interests me but i have no real hot exp.. but plenty of colubrid pythons and a fav. of mine boas preff a dumerils as so well behaved like guns love snakes i belong to my family and hope i can be seen as a a person who is torn but if anything happend gun related it will be human intervention (mostly) snakes are all wild still so i think that a posss. member only antivenin program as i can see that this can be done anyone interested please post me as england is a bad place 4 snakebite especially venomoids would be good for my d.w.a. as i will "hopefully" have an anti venin that i can get throgh the snake seller but as far as i no there aint many cures for havin a gun wound which is intensly more immediately life threatening.

fizzBob, replying to your comment on my analogy. For one, there might be more venomous snakes than guns, but not in ones home like the 2 thirds of guns I spoke of, and as far as intelligence, I might be an old country boy, but I did manage to sqeeze through West Point. I doubt very seriously that with your immature arrogant attitude, you would even make it through an enlisted mans boot camp, and if you did, you would be shot in the field on training exersize within a month.

i understand your analogy, and i know that venomous snakes being kept as pets is not a "common thing", but a lot of people like to wave guns around.....it's their power or strength......if they'd all take the advice an acquaintance of mine once offered, "only pull a gun out when you're 100% certain you're gonna shoot at something or someone", then this country would be better off......but all those weak, battered, scared people see a gun as a way to break that mold.......those who use them for protection are usually not the problem....it's those that use them as an "equalizer"....a way to get even with others or to show others that they won't be walked on anymore......look at all the school shootings......those weren't the bullies or "popular" kids with the guns, those were the kids that were made fun of by the popular kids or the bullies....i went to 23 schools and i know very well that fitting in is all most people want......but that's not realistic.....their gun allows them to fit in, or so they think........then it all goes bad....a snake just is not and never will be a weapon....weapons are meant to kill......that means a LOT right there
and by the way, i'll have to introduce you to my dad kenneth....6'2" 315lbs, VERY mean fellow......that's where i get my anger from......he was a mean guy.......no drill sergeant on earth has ANYTHING on him, trust me.....most of west point couldn't last a year with him....we're fine now, but i wanted to kill him growing up....but because of him, i can take ANYTHING, i'm stronger than ANYONE, and i know how NOT to be to my 2 girls....they get all the "good daddy" stuff i didn't get growing up.....but hey, it's how you deal with things that makes you who you are
and when did you go to west point, what years?.....my favorite band is TOOL and the lead singer (maynard james keenan) graduated from west point at the top of his class, all because he wanted to do something that no one would expect him to do......he said it was all overrated and is now anti-war and pro-thought.....cool guy though, just not meant to be a robot he says, writes some wicked lyrics though ;)
