Dear Mr./Professor O¡¯Shea,
First of all, I must congratulate you on your Animal Planet show. So many presenters just make a spectacle of the animals and the circumstances they find themselves in (I won¡¯t mention names). However, whenever I watch your show I always know I can look forward to learning something new.
I have a couple of questions which will hopefully not take you too long to answer if you get the chance. First of all, I have had a toad (Kaloula picta, I think) which I found in my backyard some months ago. It is doing so well I can¡¯t bring myself to release it, plus the rainy season is about to end so I thought I¡¯d rather keep it till the beginning of the next one. However, I am a bit concerned that it is gaining weight rather quickly (and I don¡¯t think it¡¯s gravid). I have moved it in with my Gray¡¯s Water Skink, which has a huge aquarium, in the hope that it will find enough opportunity to exercise itself (the skink does not seem to bother it and vice versa). However, are there any guidelines as to how much I should be feeding it (in terms of mealworms)?
Secondly, through a club I am president of in my school (in Manila, Philippines) I am hoping to make a set of posters with all the venomous snake species found in the Philippines and distribute them to different local communities and organizations. I got a list of species from an acquaintance of mine in Liverpool (I¡¯d rather not give names over the internet, but you probably know him). Unfortunately, (along with a number of other difficulties) I can¡¯t find photos of some of the species. These are, Rhabdophis auriculatus, R.barbouri, R.chrysargos, R.lineatus , R.spilogaster, Hemibungarus calligaster, Maticora intestinalis, Trimeresurus flavomaculatus, T.schultzei. If you have pictures of any of them that are not copyrighted, would it be possible for you to send me a copy? I entered my e-mail when I signed into this site.
Sorry for the long message.
Thanks,
ViperaAmmodytes
