to those who sent me the information on rock pythons thanks alot. i still want to go ahead and buy a rock python not out of ignorance to the people who have suggested smaller species but i do feel that any snake who is handled frequantly enough from a young age can be brought up to be not so agressive when its older as when it was young. can you give me any idea how long it will take being male or feamle to reach its full length i would immagine about 6-7 years only am not to sure. once again thanks for your replys last time. I am by no means an expert on keeping, but I have dealt with and kept several wild animals, and I can say that no matter how much time you spend with the animal or how much you think you know that animal, it still has natural wild instincts. If you feel that you are ready to keep a species such as the one you are wanting, by all means, go ahead, but please make sure you have every bit of training and understanding before you purchase your animal. Do everything possible to insure your safety, the safety of those around you, and the safety of your animal. Snakes can live for years and years and you are about to make an extremely long term commitment. Money, vet, meds, housing, food, etc. Please make sure you are ready.

I agree with Jeremy on this Snake. It is one of the Largest Species on our Planet, it does have a commonly known Bad Temper. I have kept 12 African Rocks and everyone I have worked with are “should I say Ass Holes”. Please do us all a favor, do not think this Animal can be tamed, it is an Animal of Instinct and it is impossible to suppress Instinct. This is me asking you to please consider a Smaller, Less Aggressive Species to fill your wants for the time being. I know of many good Pythons and Boas to start with, to name a few (Redtail’s, Balls, GTP’s, Emeralds, Carpets, and a Few others). Please consider this, it could teach you better how to handle Larger Varieties. I wish you the best of Luck and hope that you will consider my suggestion, but if you do plane to go ahead with the African Rock “Please Do Not Handle The Snake By Yourself”. Good luck and be and be very careful.......................................Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally
