I have a green anaconda I recently bought from a Repticon show and I have had it a couple of days. These little white looking blister things just recently showed up on it and I think its water blisters. How do I treat this?

I have had a few cases of Water Blisters in the past, mostly on Indigenous Species. I normally use Burn Cream, now this Burn Cream is not the Kind with Pain Relievers in it. I use the Common Burn Cream with Aloe Lotion in it, the Aloe seems to help more than anything. Now, I know a few Herpers that use Antibacterial Cream, such as Neosporine, Bactercream, and others. I am apprehensive of using these, for the sake that you never know if something in them will hurt the Snake. I guess the best advise I can give you is to read the Label on the back of any Cream you buy, it could be Dangerous to the Snake. Take care and I wish you the best of luck with the Snake......................................Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally

I had a cottonmouth that had the same thing(I think) I gave the snake to another keeper and he did something to it and it cleared up. I will try to ask him what it was that he did to take care of the blisters.

As they are baisically aquatic especially when larger water blisters are probably some kind of infection, if you can post some pics it would be much easier to identify, But as wally suggested those creams can work wonders how big is your anaconda and is it a C.B. animal with papers if not please be very careful as it may be a parasitic disease that could spread to other snakes if you possess more, maybee worth taking it to a vet if pics, are not avaliable hope it comes through Keyz.

I have only delt with water blisters in one species of snake. That was a pair of rough green grass snakes. It was my fault for not knowing that they needed to be kept on the dry side of humid. Sure enough white blisters and a loss of appetite. I ended up losing one of them. We all know that reptiles seldom show signs of illness until it is to late... But to my piont...i got a pair of Tree Boas off kingsnake. Within weeks the male started showing signs of water blisters. I thought that was wierd due to the habitat where they are found, so I took him to the vet. Turns out it was some type of parasite. I can't remember the name of it, but it was some type of worm that entered the snake thru the mouth and bored it's way out of the skin. It ended up being fatal. I might be wrong, but it seems odd that a semi-aquatic snake would get water blisters unless the people before you kept them in rancid water. See a vet if you can...If they can't save your snake at least you tried. I wish you luck. i know how a sick animal can eat at you all day long, driving you crazy. (not to mention what they are going through)
Keep us posted please.

dear cottonmouthkyle
please check if the water blister is a secondary problem, according my experience in anacondas, blister problems is not the main problem
for such problems i use oxyvet spray, with very good results in skin problems
if the anaconda is eating well , be sure that anaconda very soon will recover
regards
