I know Walley, David Lee is just a pussy.. If you dont want venomous, then stay with your boids and colubrids. A Northern Pacific venomoid?? I am surprised he doesnt have a Western Hognose Venomoid. What a sissy.

I feel sorry for venomoid snakes and for the people who own/sell them. It is truly pathetic.......sick. I cant see how anyone can like an animal and get involved with the community and then turn around and butcher the animal. People argue that it isnt all that bad,but it is. Cutting them open and taking out their venom glands. Thats like taking out our stomach acid and our saliva. I have seen a baby bear that had its claws ripped out and its teeth filed down because the person that owned it(was convicted) wanted a "safe bear" I dont see any difference at all when you take out a snakes venom gland. If you cant take the heat.......

Wally,
I don't think it is us that makes the venomoiders/butchers nervous but rather their own conscience.

Todd, I think you hit the nail on the head. Venomoiding is wrong, and they know it. It’s funny how the Human Conscience can make someone very afraid of the truth, instead of defending their decision to take a Snakes life away from it. They run and hide, I agree Hole Heartedly with you on the subject of Conscience..................Be Safe Ya’ll, Lets Keep Fighting This Cruel and Barbaric Practice. Happy Herping : Wally

Why hasn't this site taken a stance on venomoids? I for one would not like to see any venomoids for sale on our classifieds.

The site certainly had an impact on venomoid sales in south England this year! As my local reptile supplier who has now dissapeard in a veil of controvasy was willing to have two Neo-tropical rattlers "done" for myself and a friend oh christ I hear you say in unison, well thats where my entire reptile/herping life changed for the better as I posted on this site concerning getting a venomoid, and have since ammended my profile. not knowing the FULL and digusting implications which surround the whole venomoid trade surgery and terrible buisness practice I was shocked at peoples responses but found them to be true and to the point sorry I ever considerd it,most of the people involved with these in England seem easily persuaded to part with them for extra money instad of a D.W.A. soon though someone is going to die of a venomous bite from a supposed venomoid or even a hot that is not registed, without even having any form of medical back up and then what? A public outcry on all snakes venomoid, boid, or hot we need to form a "family tree" of these people and how they are linked then best steps can be taken to avoid putting any money there way. Just one question though would it be right to save a venomoid snake or farer to kill it! Yours sickened Keyz

Hi Keyz
to own a venomoid in the UK, you still require a DWA license. As you can see this defeats the object of purchasing an over priced venomoid.

I am aware of that, hence the overpricing of D.W.A. required animals, just saying even though you need a D.W.A some people will always turn a blind eye if the cash is right especially in england and Ireland, and some people really see them as non venomous even thogh the reason yo need the lisence is incase you have a pair of venomoids that can and probably will breed very real and deadly offspring, that was my point sorry is confusion is happening Kieron oh and son Jake who wants a spitting cobra and has learnt the latin for a gabby and I.D.'d 10 of 10 in our snake name learning game.

Do you guys mind explaining what a D.W.A. is. I am not familiar with that term here in the states.
Thanks in advance,
Todd
