Im not expecting people to reply to this, im just letting people know that this site is filled with idiots.

Nathan and Mike ! Chill !
Look, you guys are firmly established here. If you start Bitching just because someone says they dissagree with you, you are making a mistake.
There are only like 450,000 visitors to this site a month, and about 100 regulars.
Sometimes folks here will not agree with you, sometimes they will agree, get used to it ! So what if folks dissagree with you? That is what scientific debate is all about. You can dissagree back with them. Are you going to run away? A lot of young folks leave the site here the first time someone dissagree with them. Look, you have the freedom to do whatever you please, just because someone dissagrees with you, should you run and leave the forum and hide? You guys need to stand up for yourselves, and to grow thicker skins so that you dont let negative comments hurt you.
Nathan, sure some folks here might not take you seriously because you are only 13. Who cares. I take you seriously, as do many others. Dont let a couple of folks who post stuff intimidate you! Just give them the finger and continue posting, LOL ! You have showed the world that you are a serious herpetologist in your posts here in the past. And you have said you are going to ignore them. Good for you !
And Mike, same to you. Why are you getting bent out of shape just because folks dont agree with you hybridizing vipers? I am sure you think that would be kool to do, but there are going to be others who dont. You posted on a public forum asking for folks ideas on the matter, and you got responses. Perhaps the responses were not the ``go for it`` you were expecting. So what? If you are determined to cross breed those two snakes, I am sure you will do it, wether folks here approve of it or not. But I do hope you will consider what the others here have had to say also, as there are hundreds of years of reptile experience here offering you suggestions.
Just a few random thoughts on your post. You guys feel free to eMail me if you want to discuss this more.
Best Regards JohnZ

Well, Nathan, this post certainly got my attention.
I looked to see what "dishonesty" you were bringing up.
I haven't seen anyone call you a "stupid rugrat" or anything like that. Ignoring you, replying in a way that you don't like and even correcting your language is not dishonest. It might be annoying or even condescending or rude but it's not dishonest.
It also does not make the responding poster an idiot.
Calling them idiots is inflammatory and name calling is something we discourage here.
Regardless of your age, how you spell and construct your sentences will always influence how people respond to you - the better you spell and speak, the more seriously people will take you. Not taking sides - just stating a well-established fact.
Mike, some things to consider are that most people don't actually know the answer to your question because most older keepers wouldn't even consider doing what you are proposing. One important thing that was brought up in that thread was if you do produce something from that cross, what antivenom would you use for a bite from one of the offspring? There are more reasons not to crossbreed than one might normally consider.
John, thanks for all of your level-headed replies. I have been very busy with my retirement ceremony from the Navy and haven't had a lot of time to play peace-maker. I hope it will ease up soon.

Yea, you young guys can feel a little "bent out of shape" regarding some of the responses to your posts and I understand that. If I was your age and I posted a question and someone gave me an arrogant response, I would be bugged also.
I have been involved with animals, one way or the other, all my life. I've had snakes since elementary school, but in adulthood I have had horses, exotic birds, hogs, chickens, etc., etc.
What I have learned about animal people is that they are not always "people" people. They tend to be very direct, sometimes to the point of rudeness. But they are not trying to be impolite. They are just not wasteing time "sugarcoating" thier answer. They will tell you straight-up what the facts are as they see them.
Once a member posts a response, and other members do not argree, they will post what they think.
So don't get bugged. It's not worth it. The information you get from people here is invaluable and worth the abuse you might get occassionally.

I agree with the starter of this ropic. People just post BS about things having nothing to do with the question. Just their Pet Sentences. Such as "Its crap like this that causes legislatures to pass laws against people keeping reptiles". I have read that sentence in slightly altered forms so many times in so many places (not just here) that I want to sedate the people that are saying it because it never has any relevance to anything in reality, they have just gotten so used to saying it that they use it for everything.
Or that when I am describing what I AM DOING with my venomous snakes is somehow trying to cause trouble. BZZZZT!!! I say what I am doing, what I know about it and what I think about it and hope someone will help me if I need it. For some reason some people think I need to be attacked and put down and have my character questioned rather than giving me ANY info about venomous snakes. Maybe the people not so suspicious and set in their ways will help me and others. Of course that is just my opinion. :P

Michael,
This is from the page titled "About the SHHS":
Our Mission Statement
The main goals of the Southeastern Hot Herp Society are:
1. To provide a forum for the information exchange on the ecology, natural history and behavior of venomous reptiles.
2. To promote conservation and protection of venomous reptiles.
3. To encourage responsible animal husbandry by venomous reptile keepers.
4. To educate the general public to the benefits of venomous reptiles in nature.
5. To serve as a clearinghouse of information on venomous reptiles.
Mission statements 1 and 5 were accomplished with responses to your post by LarryDFishel, SwampY and Atrox788. Every negative post is in response to your admission to the fact that you do not have the minimum necessary equipment to deal with this highly dangerous animal. They are, in their own words, trying to fulfill mission statement 3.
Believe me, you received MUCH less criticism than I expected. I suspect that is because so many keepers have so little experience with forest cobras. I know lots of professional keepers that would avoid them in favor of King Cobras and even mambas. I don't know a single person that will tell you that it is in any way safe to deal with one with only mini hooks.
Again, I checked and there is nothing dishonest regarding that thread either.

To the young guys out there:
I have read all of your posts and the responses to them. I have not seen anything derogatory or overtly negative, just honest answers and opinions from people who have taken the time to read your posts. Be thankful that they responded and take their suggestions with a grain of salt. This is a discussion forum and not everybody is going to agree on every subject. Please don't get upset and start a flame over supposed DISHONESTY when you do not agree with a person's take on something, it sets a nasty divisive tone to an otherwise excellent forum.

I think the best thing to do is just ignore it. I have learned of being here of over 4 years that it is easiest just to ignore negative things people say. It just becomes a constant bicker and no one will ever win it.
