Most of you folks just missed out on a very interesting show in Atlanta this weekend.
No, there were no venomous for sale.
But the venomous snakes on display by Johnny Hester, John Pullian and the Lanier Museum were some of the best cared for animals you would ever see.
Johnny had some huge Copperheads and Timber and Canebrake Rattlesnakes. His female Dusky Pigmy Rattlesnake was no mini either.
The Lanier Museum had a greenish colored Cottonmouth with which I was particularly impressed.
John Pullian had several species of cobras on display as well as a Gila Monster. His Forest Cobra was quite the display animal.
There was also quite a variety of unusual nonvenomous animals for sale such as hypomelanistic Anza Borrego locality Rosy Boas, Rachydactilis geckos, Madagascar Giant Day Geckos, Black Pine Snakes, Cape Gopher Snakes and many more others than I can list here.
The Boss and I had a good time talking with the public about native Georgia reptiles and amphibians which the Lanier Museum was displaying. We enjoyed talking to so many of the old-time members of the SHHS and several of the site regulars. Johnny Hester, BW Smith, John Pullian, Phillip Higgins and Chris Harper are just a few of the people that we saw.
Many thanks to the Georgia Herpetological Society who put on the show and asked us to come as volunteers.
We are looking forward to doing it again next year.
