Interesting thing....If your venomoid snake bites you, you are still at risk of a bacterial infection....and that's some *really* nasty stuff....Clostridium sp were very present in Crotalus; Salmonella Arizonae was quite prevelant in a lot of the literature which I looked at....Mostly it was Gram-negative bacteria, there were, however, a few Gram-positive bacteria cultured, most of which were Clostridium sp. Look for my article on the matter hopefully coming soon.
Cheers
Roger
PS: I'm not fond of the practice of venomoiding snakes

I love all snakes, even if they have been robbed of their self defense, but!!! I still think the Venomiods should not be kicked to the curb, but all gathered up and given to a true pro, who will give them a life of ease and then make it unlawfull to do such procedures.

if i'm offered a venomoid king cobra...i'd sure as hell take it...i wouldnt have it done to my snakes unless i was using them for educational purposes and insurance required it or something...it's just queer to keep a "nonvenomous" venomous snake...just get a boa or something or even an adult retic...they could still kill you if thats what thrills people...thats like clipping a birds wings so it cant fly..if i was one of those birds i would make it my mission in life to shit on everyone possible...and a snakes venom has many purposes especially aiding in digestion...those people are just bitches...

I agree with Fizzbob7, if you want a non venomous snake, buy one, but don't alterate hot's nature. Why destroy a perfect weapon, result of lots of years of evolution?. And more important, why put in risk the stomach health of a snake?.
It's incredible what point can reach the stupidity of the human being.....
