Nice collection Al. But 1000 dollars a year. We spend close to $2000.00 a month and still have to breed some mice/rats. Also have to buy $500.00 a month of chicks. Not to leave out the rabbits I am not ever sure how much we spend on them. We have over 100 plus species of venomous. The last head count was 2000 animals on grounds and babies being born as we speak.
Al are you going to IHS?

Jeremy,
One is from the two deserticola you gave me years back. The other one died. A friend on the west coast gave me the other as a retirement gift.
It will be a while before I get to breed my lodingi as the male was just hatched this past fall but I surely will keep you in mind.
The Boss and I are doing fine.

Now I remember ; ; You had told me about that. Im glad the female is doing good and is in good, careing hands.
Im in no hurry to have baby pinesnakes to feed but figured I should try and get Jr (my male black pine) some fine southern lovin atleast once in his life LOL. Id be honored to pick up a female from you when your pair is ready to go and your ready to be hissed at by a bunch of loud mouths :p God I love Pituophis!
Im glad you guys are doing good!
Take care bud and hope to see you in SC.

Hi Jim:
I HATE going to Canada! So much for being a friendly neighboor. I am saving vacation time for Venom week in Tucson in September.

Psh, some of you guys are just trying to show off! ;) Honestly though, as busy as I am finishing my teaching internship and all, I'd probably forget some animals if I tried to keep that many. I do keep a small collection of herps though, many of which are destined to become classroom companion. These days, most of my animal efforts are in the giant bird world. They include:
Herps/Inverts
2.1 Australian Olive Pythons
0.1 Mexican (?) Rosy Boa
1.1 Ball Python
1.0 Black Pakistan Cobra (*not* a classroom pet! - though after dealing with the little turds this past semester, maybe that would be a good way to straighten out the rude ones....)
0.1.2 Crested Geckos
0.0.4 Yellow Acanthurus Monitors
0.0.2 Emperor Scorpions (at my partner's class....gah)
0.0.1 Giant Redheaded Centipede (again, at his class, not mine)
Nonherps
1.1 Miniature Schnauzers - house turds
3.1 Adult Normal Emus
0.1 Adult Blond Emu
2.0 Blond Emu Chicks
2.2 Adult Gray Rheas
1.0 Adult White Rhea
0.2 Yearling Gray Rheas
1.0 Adult Double-Wattled Cassowary (hopefully chicks soon!)
1.0 Llama
1.1 Gouldian Finches
1.1 Rosella Parakeets
I'm hoping to add a male LA pine and a male e. indigo as classroom display specimens. I'd like to use these to make a permanent conservation oriented display in hopes of eventually helping the students realize what the idea of "the only good snake is a dead snake" and habitat destruction are doing to these animals' populations. True it may be optimistic, but you'd just have to see how easily kids become attached to even "creepy" classroom pets.
