Snouteds make great captives. Easily my favorite among the Najas. Not as hysterical as the asiatics and without the malevolence of some the Africans such as melanoleuca. ... Most of them, anyway ...
A couple pictures of my current one, a four foot male banded phase, are posted at:
http://www.sonoransunset.com/an/rep/rep-ela-01.htm
atrox:
The paradox of the "banded" moniker is that the majority of specimens aren't.
I've never seen a banded anchietae, live or photo, at least that I am aware of.

Ronald, the changes in this snake are very resent, dating back only to 2004.
Before that there were 3 sub-species, and before that there were 5.
Many sites on the web have not been updated, and still list the old subspecies.
That is the problem with new science, it is often published in obscure journals and does not make it out to the general public for many years.

A good place to go for current taxonomic information is The Reptile Database:
http://www.tigr.org/reptiles/search.php
Their synonym lists are particularly interesting.

The subspecies category has been done away with.
Unless and until a subspecies is elevated, just lop the subspecies name off the end and refer to at as just genus and species.
