I went to George Van Horns Reptile World Serpentarium this weekend. Strongly recomend it if you have not been there....His displays were top notch and he uses a gravel/rock type substate that looked fantastic. Does anybody know where to get this?

Sloane, I have not been to Van Horn's place in years, so I do not know what gravel substrates he is using.
There are many nice naturalistic gravels available in the tropical fish department of high-end pet stores.
There are also some nice gravels available in the gardening centers at Home Depot and Lowes, and gardening / landscape supply centers.
At the Atlanta Zoo, we used crushed marble chipps in many exhibits. They were available in a great many colors, and worked quite well. The only problem is that we had to purchase them by the truck load. A few years ago, I looked into purchasing just a few 100 lb bags of these marble chipps, but they were not available in small quantities.
Hope you are able to find what you are looking for.
Best Regards JohnZ
