Awww...come on guys! You're making me feel bad. No excuse? At least my bite falls under the category of a 'legitamite' bite.

WOW i guess Dean ripa, gordon cates and Bill lamar shouldnt keep then, since they have all been tagged. Ray hunter, bruce means, etc all have been hit, so under this logic they shouldnt keep?
12 yrs keeping
2 bites
accidents happen thats why there called accidents. also i thing alot depends on interaction, if your having to work with and clean 100s of animals a day i think that may increase your risk, as opposed to the guy who has 2 gabs he cleans every month. There are alot of factors here that should be weighed, and again accidents happen.
Enjoy,
Jared

I should clarify my previous comment. (I wish you could edit your posts here!)
There are situations in the field where all the caution in the world may not help. On the other hand, working in house with captives? Never!

Again WoW, Thats what accidents are accidents. U can do EVERYTHING right and sometimes things dont go how they should these are WILD animals with minds of there own. LOL seriously how many of the most well KNOWN published and professional herpers have been bit, a fairly large amount. Its not something to be proud of, or ashamed of, tigers keepers can do everything in there power and still get attacked, croc keepers too. Lets not compare the years of experiece of the afore mentioned, to those I saw posted.

And Again, dealing with changin waterbowls for timbers and copperheads everyday is not the same as milking king cobras and mambas (100s a day) on the venom line. Lots of things should be weighed when contributing to this,

For example I met a gentleman last year at the Morris Pa roundup (no kill, just catch n release) who had hosted the hunt and done the roundup, n i quote "for 40 some years, and I didnt get my first bite till just last year, damn thing almost killed me". Your linin yourself up for one under the never will happen to me mentality,

45 years since I brought home my first snake.
32 years since I brought home my first venomous snake.
0 venomous bites.
I do not believe that a venomous bite is inevitable.
I also do not look down my nose at those who have been bitten.
Accidents do happen.
So I plan, as much as possible, to prevent accidents.
So far, that has worked out for me.
