$300 for a "screaming pair of eastern box turtles"?....Seriously, I must be doing something wrong if folks can get $300 for a pair of commonly seen box turtles. No disrespect to the fella posting the ad - but c'mon folks. Oh well, as they say Caveat Emptor.
At least it provided a short moment of amusement.

As shiney as the shell of that turtle in the photo is, you have to wonder if he waxed and buffed it !

Well, you made it sound disrespectful. I'm not just some idiot who stumbled on to Venomous.org. Been here for quite some time. And I take alot of pride in what people think of me. My price may be high in your eyes, but I have plenty of decent arguments for my price. And if you look on Kingsnake.com you will see babies Easterns going from $70each all the way up to $100each.
And on the pic remark you guys are having so much fun with, well you need your glasses fixed. In the ad I stated "sorry for the crappy pic" I had to wash her off in order to get a pic, resaon for the so called buffing. Then you should be able to notice on the pic how it has a bit of a blurry factor to it.
This is all I am going to say, b/c quite frankly this pisses me off quite a bit, but I'm trying to be an adult about this, and not run my mouth such as you guys have. I would expect the same respect from you guys even if I haven't gotten it to begin with.
You know, I know just as well as everyone else on here and other sites alike that there are idiots who post on here, but just b/c you guys apparently don't know me as I don't think I know any of you guys, don't prejudge. The things you guys are talking about are things people with no time on their hands whine about. "HIGH SCHOOL BS".
You guys and many others may not agree with my opinion, and thats fine, everyone is entitled to their own. But do me a favor, keep little bickering like this to yourself. I don't run off at the mouth about you guys, we *ALL* need to show more common courtesy to our fellow man than we do. Let's try?

Just would like to clear up, I do kinda understand how this is all in good fun in some of your eyes, but really if you don't know the individual it's considered disrespectful just as if I had done the same to you. And you guys know as well as I do, had this been some with a temper, this could all get blown up and everyone back and forth for nothing. Or you could have caught me on a bad day, which this actually did when I originally read it. I'm in the middle of a divorce, and custody battle. And the day I read this, If I had responded.....wow. I would have been a total a$$. And I'm trying to grow up in my life so thats why I decided to wait till I could think more clearly about all this. So basically I'm only trying to ask for a little more respect next time.

Jamie, sorry to hear about your divorce and things.
I believe that folks here poked a bit of fun at the turtle ad because they "do" know you, and did not think you would get upset from a bit of fun. Perhaps the timing was a bit off, but no one was making an personal attack. After all, it is not every day that an ad appears for $300.00 screaming box turtles!
Herpers need a chuckle from time to time.
At this last weeks Repticon Show in Atlanta, you should have heard all of the good natured kidding that goes on, especially about the animals others keep. You know most of the folks I am talking about, and if you were there, I bet you would have joined in.
We all know turtle folks who actually do wax and buff their turtles before shows !
If nice patterned box turtles are now worth $300.00, I might have to start keeping a few of those I stop and remove from the roads, to keep them from being squished by cars.

Actually, the ‘screaming turtle’ comment is rather real for me. One day in early 1990s I got home and heard this LOUD moaning in the house, and my 1st thought was that somebody broke into the house and is watching dirty movies.
Then I followed the sound and it was coming from upstairs from the reptile room. So I slowly opened the door to peak in, I was little scared as back then I didn’t own any guns, and there is this male pancake tortoise on top of female, mating, and he is MOANING. I would have never believed small 8 inches tortoise can be this noisy, she is pretty blond but still, anyway, here is video of my blond female (no male in the video)
