where do you want to travel? I just take time off of work and head somewhere. In jan. I'll be going to opp,AL and in march I'll be headed to west Texas.

Well, if you're going to do a lot of travel then you probably have a university or professional organization--such as the SSAR or the Herpetologists' League--funding your research project. THis also depends on what level your research is--undergrad, post-grad, post-doctoral etc...I know that both the SSAR and the HL give grants and awards for research projects, but I believe that you would be obligated to submit your findings for review and publication to one of their journals. Otherwise I supose that your expenses would be paid out of pocket.
