AT ONE TIME I OWNED A PARABUTHUS TRANSVAALICUS(WHICH HAS THE ABILITY TO SPRAY VENOM FROM ITS TAIL) AND A PARABUTHUS MOSSAMBICENSIS. THEY ARE BOTH CONSIDERED TO BE POSSIBLY LIFE THREATENING. THE TRANS IS DARK COLORED AND A VERY PROMINENT METASOMA. THE MOZAM HAS A LIGHTER COLOR, MORE TOWARD THE ANDROCTONUS AUSTRALIS (TUNISIAN FAT-TAIL). IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN BY MY OWN LITERATURE THERE APPEARS TO BE APPROX 13 SPECIES OF THE BUTHIDAE FAMILY. IF YOU CAN, THE BOOK BY BARRONS-COMPLETE SCORPION GUIDE IS A VERY GOOD REFRENCE. I HOPE THIS HELPS OUT SOME.

thanks for the info. i have the book. i can't seem to figure out what kind of scorpion it is. i called the dealer and he did not know what is. he got it shipped as a egyptian yellow. when i first saw it i thought it might be a Leirus, but because of the lack of black on the last segment i don't think it is. now i think it might belong to the genus Androctonus. i've had a P.transvaalicus before, i sold him when i needed money. i want to buy another. thanks again for the info :)
