Python slithers into Wilmington restaurant
Updated: May 26, 2008 02:44 PM PDT
Python Break In
WILMINGTON -- When manager Daniel Ellegood opened the Dixie Grill on Market Street Sunday morning, he already had a guest.
A 4-foot python, native to Africa and Asia, was slithering around the kitchen.
Although the snake isn't poisonous, they squeeze their pray to death, Ellegood said the site certainly got his blood pumping.
"I'm a tough guy but I was scared," said Ellegood.
He didn't know what else to do, so he called 911.
Police Officer Ryan Spencer is no stranger to reptiles, and took the python into custody.
For now, the snake has a temporary home at Pets Plus in Porters Neck. The store hopes to get it back to its owner.
If you have lost your pet python, you can call Pets Plus at, (910) 681-1363.

Some tough guy...either of my young children would have gleefully run up to that snake to catch it.
When does the stupidity stop?

This is one of the very reasons I've stayed a single female-with guys like this to pick from, I really don't have any options! What a WUSS! "...at least six feet long"? Gimme a break; even the news lady wasn't afraid of the Ball Python!
