If your IQ is 170 shouldn't you realize that God is a name. So out of respect or not it is spelled with a capital G(I guess you are so smart that slipped past you).
As far as wearing your fingers out explaining things to me you should invest that time into proving you are not as irresponsible as you make yourself appear.
In addition please use some of your vast knowledge in understanding that virtually everyone who replied shared in the opinion that your techniques are foolhardy.
Until next time

if you are referring to inspecific gods, then it is supposed to be lower cased....since I do not believe in an all powerful being, then I can not honestly refer to god as God....there was a college b-ball player named God Shammgod...he would be God, because I have seen him, therefore I accept him as real...get it....not disrespectful in my opinion, but when I type the word atlantis, it's not technically wrong...unless I am talking about the resort in the Bahamas.....that would be Atlantis..but I give up..if you feel the need to get the last word in, then fine...I'm not above it, by no means, but I'm downloading Monster's Ball and Halle Berry is hot....so bye....

So you have a 170 IQ....so what. I go to Harvard and I'm about to go to war. None of this has anything whatsoever to do with snakes.
What this does have to do with is respect...Respect for other people's religious beliefs and ways of life; respect for other animals....these are important things in this country.
Jackie is correct however, "God" is a refference in this contects to the Judeo-CHristian diety who is known, among other names, as "God" and therefore rates a capital letter.
Their freehandling rattlers is no less stoopid than your or my freehandling a snake as a matter of convenience. As to their drinking "poisonous substances"....anyone remember the episode of The Simpsons where Bart went to the winery that put the antifreeze in the wine? hehehe, I just had an idea>;-)
Cheers
Roger

"i have broken my right hand into pieces boxing but i still do that...i have a 170 iq, so it's not that i'm not smart..."
think about it....if i broke my hand boxing, and then kept boxing, most would consider that dumb...if i am bitten freehandling, and keep doing it, most would say that's dumb....i hope you see where i am going, thats why it(IQ) was mentioned...see....no big deal...i respect the fact that they chose(or were brought up knowing no other way) this religion to believe in and do it wholeheartedly, unlike someone who does nothing but show up in church on sunday and whatever they want the rest of the time....but i think it's insane....i think the fact that most religions, especially christianity, teach that things like homosexuality, interracial relationships and more are completely wrong and most people get hate for those from their religion...just like when someone hates snakes...it's because mom and pop taught them to....im open minded as anyone on here, but i still think it's dumb....not just unsafe, but dumb...to me, freehandling for laziness sake is unsafe only when compared with using all your tools and having someone in there as a lookout....thats the safest way....but knowledge of the animal is worth a lot to me....after having him over a year, i feel comfortable grabbing him at the tail end of his 3.5ft body to simply move him from cage to cage....not safe but far from stupid....and concerning serpent handling, i have seen it, first person, up close...its unsafe, harmful to the animals, and it is all for show....thats the bottom line...i do none of my FH for show....to me that's the difference....and really, Harvard?...how could you pass an entrance exam spelling like that...i know the net is a lazy place, but c'mon....money goes a long way as to where you wanna go to college, but for real....good luck with your "war"

i'm sorry if i have offended any religious serpent handlers or anyone else who disagrees with the way i handle my snakes carelessly.....this thread is getting goofy and it's not human nature to change a solid opinion even about something that is fact or fiction, which this certainly is not....sorry jackie, buzz, and roger....i shouldnt have argued with you simply because i didnt accept your point of view....no one is gonna change the way they think about this so we can just find something else to discuss....cya later

I should probably stay out of this one, but I can't resist..................... It has been my experience that people who actually have IQ that approach the 170 mark rarely flaunt the results of their IQ tests in public. You see, it is obvious to the most casual of observers when they are in the presense of brilliance, and even the most dull have the ability to see a rising star.............. So, my dear Fizzbob, I don't doubt that you managed to score 170 on an IQ test. I just can't see anything brilliant in anything you've written on any subject to date, and I fail to see any indication that the trend is in danger of reversal here..................If you want to free-handle venomous snakes it certainly is your right. Please do not belittle people for doing exactly the same thing you do as an expression of your "freedom." The Constitution that grants your freedom(s) is the same one that allows snake handling church members the right to exercise their religous freedom, whether you think they're a bunch of fools or not. I do not go in for that sort of thing myself, as I believe it is foolish to tempt God in any way shape or form. I read that you don't believe in God. Obviously you've never been in battle, nor bitten yet. When you get bit by one of your venomous snakes, you will pray to God that He will take away the pain and save your hind end. I hear Rattlesnake bites give new meaning to the word pain. Another thing you might want to give some brain time to.... when you get bit, (if you're free-handling, it isn't a question of if, but when) how do you think it will look to the rest of the world when they find out that you "keep" venomous snakes as "pets?" They always find out, and they always TRY to make the keeper out to be a nutcase even in the best of circumstances....................... I won't ask you to stop freehandling, but I will stop volunteering to help you with husbandry questions because I do not want to make it any easier for you to keep your animals alive...... something that seems to be terribly difficult for a person with an IQ of 170............Maybe if you didn't free-handle and stress them out so much they'd live longer? I'm glad I'm just a dumb, church going, snake keeping, regular guy. The pressure of carrying around all that intellect must be staggering........ I'm also thankful that I'm not so smart (like you) to have determined that there is no God. I've experienced far too many miracles not to believe in Him and His Son........... I hope that you realise that your words make you seem to be young, impulsive, inexperienced and almost anything but brilliant. You can say whatever you want, but writing in lower case letters with little regard for punctuation or grammar does not move cause forward in regard to "selling" your high IQ........ you have also failed to elicit even the slightest change in my initial impression of your comments in this thread, so your debating skill are lacking as well. I guess there's little to gain from being bright when you boil away all the fancy trimmings....... You don't believe in God. You feel like anything you do is okay, but if someone else does it, they're a dope. You don't seem to want to recognise anyone else's point of view in a discussion, yet you expect we'll all just agree with anything you write down. You insult others, yet I'm sure you'll be outraged when you read this......... so what else is there? You'll still have that 170 IQ, but little else ........ Well... that's all for now. I'm sorry you decided to give Jackie the devil. He seems like a pretty good guy. He could tell you a thing or two about keeping snakes and Gilas alive and well..... Tom Townsend

tom...have you ever been shot...a burning bullet in tender flesh is rather painful...i didn't ask for holy relief then, i wanted modern medicine to hook me up, i haven't been bitten, and hopefully won't, but it must be comparable....pain isn't that big of a deterrent if you don't anticipate it, not to say you can't learn from it, but it is a sensation that let's you know something is wrong....when i was 13, i had to stab my mom's boyfriend in the stomach with a steak knife to keep him from possibly killing her in a drunken rage....i actually tried to believe in a compassionate, all powerful being then, but about 4 years ago, i gave up....i have no reason to believe otherwise and every reason to believe just the opposite....you see, until i was big enough to physically harm her "boyfriend" in ways that changed his mind about bothering us, we had no protection...if my little girl is in pain, i want to make it better, and if at all possible, will...thats what a god would do.....supposedly the power to do it is there....you either believe and make excuses for the countless slaps in the face life gives you or you just accept everything as is, no intent behind it, no mysterious being that no one has ever seen, it's just that things happen...i will never die from falling out of an airplane, unless i get in an airplane, it is that simple...cause and effect....i hope i am wrong, because for some people that have everything against them, a painless, perfect afterlife is their only hope.....i just dont see it that way....the greeks wholeheartedly believed in their religious notions, and we now call it mythology...stories of imaginary beings..now what would a simplified version of that be, hmmmm.....there is no way to know who is right, but i'll give you this much, you have the majority behind you....majority rules, thats just part of life.....and my snakes won't die...this is an easy way to learn info about them, certainly not the only way...most of the info i have received conflicts with things here and there...there is no code to go by that is 100% accurate...we can just build off of what others have done or haven't done....if i can't keep them alive, i will certainly leave them alone, but if you ever need help with anything that could possibly concern me, then let me know....if i can help, i will.....my thing is cars and what makes them tick....forced induction...no hard feelings though...just because i'm not christian doesnt mean that i'm bitter....my wife is catholic, and we get along fine....oh yeah, and how is my hand being used in place of a hook more stressful...i only move them when i have to....i never said i juggle them....i feel like they are better off, because i am compromising a small amount of my safety so that maybe they won't fall off the hook....some just will not stay on.....you can get supertongs, but that has to be a little more stressful....but everyone keep replying....i can come up with stuff all day long....maybe one of the administrators will shut down this thread, because i'm tired of checking it...

oh yeah...not at all mad, and certainly not in any type of rage....and on one of the gazillion posts there was something that i typed about the internet being a casual place, but spelling a word incorrectly can change the meaning completely, and is a lot more likely to happen than a misplaced apostrophe or hyphen...contractions will get screwed, but most people dont know the difference in there, they're, their, etc....and i never said your weren't intelligent....after 44 years you should have acquired something....you know, the brain is like a sponge....
