re: "ask those who have met me"
ricky, I've met you twice and have been keeping my mouth shut throughout this post, but it's time I said something.
Every time you post a new topic, you ask questions, GOOD questions, as a newcomer to venomous keepers. You get many replies, most of which are informative and educational. The problem is, you almost always have an instant reply to at least half the answers, in which you seem, or try to seem, as though you know more than the person who posted the reply. you say this post has nothing to do with religion, but putting down religious practices was one of your first comments. Anonymous was right, I checked the post. you denied freehandling, but previous post say different.
you made reference to people judging you by the fact that you wear earrings. I have met you twice, sold you venomous snakes twice and I never judged you by the fact that you wear earrings. I did, however, see you as new to venomous reptiles and thought that it was a truly unique experience to meet you. THEN, the second time I met you, you drove home with two 4 foot plus canebrakes and a two foot or less C. Atrox in the same Rubbermaid container that only locked on the ends, and said you would hold your hand on the lid, (while driving), all the while, your wife and infant daughter were in the back seat. That is irresponsible, and I have no choice, based on experience, but to conclude that this is a normal way of life for you and that you have a very selfish attitude and blatant disregard for the well-being of others and this hobby. you and your attitude in this hobby disappoint me. At 22 years old, you are free to make decisions for yourself, but you should show a little more respect to those that have kept vens longer than you have been alive. I am not referring to myself, I am referring to all the other educated people who help you out every time you post a question on this website and you do it quite frequently. you present yourself as a footloose know-it-all on this forum. That's disappointing. Pardon me if I don't capitalize your name, but if I can't capitalize God, damned if I will capitalize anything else.

the "unsafe container" you are referring to also had 16 screws in it, you couldn't get out of it, and when i said i would "hold the lid on it all the way home", that was a joke, which obviously i should've explained....not to mention the wdb was in a tied bag, inside the container, oh yeah, and everything went fine...and obviously by now you know that what anyone thinks of me doesn't really concern me, and something else, just wondering if you've mentioned that story you told me about you being bitten by a copperhead(not too long ago).....you know the one where you went to your neighbor's house, popped the hood of his old truck and used a plug wire to conduct "shock therapy" on the bite, you told me that it had already started swelling, yet after the "treatment" it was completely void of all bite symptoms....you do know that this "treatment" isn't a good idea...and from what i have read, doesn't actually work....i tried my best to not laugh when you told that story, but you have to believe i'm laughing now....that's kind of out there....i tried to be respectful toward you, because you were definitely knowledgeable, at least when compared to me at the time, and you did get me started with my first hots...i appreciate that and the fact you've helped me out a few times, but you seem offended that i'm not christian, even judgemental now that you are aware of it....if you had known that insignificant fact before we dealt the first time, you think you'd have still have sold me anything....that seems judgemental to me, which would go against the good book, right?
no hard feelings though, you don't have to "help" me anymore either, and if i eventually anger everyone on here to the point that i'm "cast" out of shhs, then i suppose i will just change s/n's (and computers if they are able to trace the isp source address) and request the info i need....seems simple....i could go to kingsnake, although i think this site is better for certain things....well, hasta luego bill...

one more thing(sorry for the successive posts), the sale of c. atrox is illegal in alabama, you know, it's not indigenous....i didn't know that at the time or i wouldnt have bought it from you....i had rather not do anymore "black market" snake trading with you either, that makes me uncomfortable....i like to stay on the right side of the law

an exerpt from your profile, bill:
Pipewelder by trade, herpetoculturist by desire, never bitten by the grace of God.
either the story you told me(and wasted at least 30 minutes of my thursday night) was a lie(the copperhead and plug wire story) or you are too ashamed to admit the fact you were bitten to your colleagues.....
it also says that you catch the nuisance snakes and eventually release them as part of your "service to the community"....i was told that out of the 5 snakes i bought from you, 4 of them(3 canes and 1 copper) were some you had caught due to the animal control calls, but if you release them back into the wild, how could you have cleared $175 off of them from me, not to mention your other dealings i wasn't part of...you really seemed like a good guy, but after putting all this together, you're just a bit deceiving....what a shame...i guess you could deny all of this and most would side with you, but you should clean up your act as a representative of the christian community....just be honest

Sixteen screws, ok, whatever you say, and the atrox was not in a bag either when you left for home. You didn't get the atrox from me either. You brought it to birmingham with you to see if I could help you identify it. You thought it was a red diamond or mohave...you have post here as well as my replies to prove that point too. That was in September of 2002. If you were ignorant of Alabama Law 1 year, two months after it passed, then I would be concerned.

What about that Gabby you have? That's illegal in this state too. Since I have no reps at this time, you and your false statements are a waste of time. I have a friend in Montgomery I want you to meet. His name is Gene. He just happens to be with the Enforcement Section of the Alabama DCNR. I could give you his e-mail and number, but what the hell, I think I will call him myself tommorow.
Think and say what you will, this will be my only reply. I don't need to post 20 times under a single topic to try and get people's approval.
cheers,
wls

please, don't hesitate to pester your friend.....i hate it that he would come up with nothing at all, but what can i do, it's your call....you're right about the "mystery snake" you decided was an atrox...i'm sorry..i have only bought the 3 canes and 1 copper from you, i apologize....i accidentally got him in a trade....he was supposed to be a pygmy or something....but if you deny the shock therapy story then you're definitely a liar as far as i am concerned, and thats all i care about...i hope that your relationships with others won't be affected by anything though, because they should have their own opinions....that's best....and it's very un-christian to say that you are doing a service to the community and the venomous snakes of your "call area" when in reality, you're only making some extra income with little, if any, overhead.....isn't that illegal too....huh

and notice how all the westerns were young, small snakes...and you saw that one yourself...it looked different than what is considered normal for a western.....but when i finally figured out that they were all westerns, and illegal, i got rid of them for nothing....no profit....no trade...and as for the law, i got conflicting info from 3 gov't sources...not until i found shhs did i really understand what was considered indigenous and what wasn't....the wildlife fish and game had no answers...it took almost a year to get a definite answer as to whether or not bobcats are legal, which they are not, because they too are indigenous....other cats, most much larger, aren't restricted by the state....but like you said, i was just getting started, and an id mistake isn't that unusual for a newbie, which i still am in my opinion, but that shouldnt read as dumb....

Once again, Your IQ is 170 and you didn't know what indigenous meant. One word D-I-C-T-I-O-N-A-R-Y (LOL).
Seriously though the best thing to do at this point is just to let this thread go.
Take Care

I too have avoided commenting in this one, but I cant believe the total lack of respect for some of most honorable people here at the Shhs...Karl, Bill, Tom, Roger,Jackie, amoung others, are the some of the most knowledgable, experienced people, and they are always contributing honest reliable answers here. And respect has nothing to do with IQ, in my field I have taken care of many individuals with IQ's of less than 60, most likely around 40...and ya know what?...They know how to show respect, they are some of the nicest, kindest people you could ever meet, So Mr. Fizzbob can you stoop to that level?....To get respect one must show respect, and I believe everyone here has always gone out of thier way to answer even your most petty questions and yes, given you respect, and in return, you always come off with crude remark...listen, your 22 going on 40, and truely showing your age..At the very least learn to show alittle respect to people who have contributed more to the "hobby" this week, than you have in your entire "long-lived" life.
As for the snake not striking the tree...what is that? Again for 170 IQ, not a very bright comment, Crotalids are pitvipers,(rattlesnakes to you, lol), which have pits, what do the pits do? Sense heat!!, and guess what? Trees dont produce any!!!! So why would it strike a tree for blowing in the wind? Lets see.... you free handle, do you produce heat? Anything clicking here? duh, please explain it to us average folks, by the way, tailing a snake to move it isnt freehandling, again your lack of knowledge shows...
And we all been through difficult things in life, so dont play the role of "victim" here when someone overcomes your rudeness, I can assure you many people have had it tougher than you...
Your not old enough nor wise enough(wisdom is a much greater quality than IQ), to talk down to people as you always do. Dont be so quick to judge others with out a quick look in the mirror...do you know how many people think we are crazy for having venomous snakes? Too many to count, and we are lumped right in with the religious handlers you first posted about. Thats why
you live in America, kiddo, to be able to have those freedoms, brought to you by those people you show so much disrespect to...
If you still dont "Get It", I have a nine year old that would be willing to explain it too ya...and I bet he could also teach you quite a few things about herps as well....and why we capitalize God.
Ok, now lets see what you can find to insult me, or what rude comment you'll reply with....
