Arin,
Maybe the problem is that "younger" herpers don't use the search engines or our archives properly. If one needed information on say, a False Water Cobra. All they would need to do is type it in the Expert section search engine and it will pop up.
While your intentions by not try to start a brawl, your childish smug remarks and the little shots you take at folks is old. Like many have said, everytime your called out or whatever, you throw a fit.
Bottom line: If a 12 yr old herper wants info on Southern Copperheads. Go to google and type it in. If they need further info, type it in the search engine here. By then if they need more, make a post and ask.

"I was not trying to stir stuff up". Of course you were, arin. It's what you do best. Out of a clear blue sky you log on and call people assholes. K-snake's just the place for you. Karl and mods, how much more of this POS's garbage are we supposed to take?

Arin, I've been useing/posting on this site since 1999.(about the time you started keeping venomous, when you were 6 yrs old. LOL) Sometimes it slows down some and not many people post for awhile, then it picks back up.You've only been posting here a few months, your reasons for the slow down are not valid. If you don't like the slow down, why not post an interesting topic to get things rolling again instead of making false statements? Marty

Friends, this site goes through seasonal ups and downs. We often have doldrums in the winter months when folks are not out herping, then the site picks up again in the spring when folks are out finding snakes.
It is just a natural cycle, much like the weather. Even in January, we still have 71,000 site visitors per month ! That will double or triple as the weather warms in the spring. That is a lot of herpers !
Because Chris is serving this Country in Iraq, this site might be a little show on updates for a while, however, there should be new items added to the site very soon.
As far as young folks not visiting the site, well, if they come here, and they ask questions, they will find that most of the time, they get some great answers from some of the top reptile folks in the world. And they will find us to be mostly friendly. If they never visit, then they will never know that though. Their loss..............
If they do not even bother visiting here at all, because other sites tell them to stay away, well, there is not much we can do about that. They become part of the followers, who like sheep, tend to follow the herd.
We are one of the oldest reptile related sites on the internet, and we have members here from all over the world. We have the largest library of photos of venomous reptiles there is. We have some of the top scientists in the world posting here.
Also, we have Experts here who answer questions that are some of the most experienced reptile folks in the world. Folks should realize that if they visit here. Again, if they do not, it is their loss................
Best Regards
John Z

I don't keep venomous and I am not an old person, but I have seen your videos. Even my 11 year old brother can spot things that you did wrong over and over and over again.
Plus there is so much help on this site. You just think there isn't because you don't hear what you want to hear.
If you want to hear my opinion, and you don't, I think you should get off this website and NEVER come back. It's people like you that give this hobby a bad name.

Arin
I've been into herps since 1970!I like most other "senior" herper's don't post just to post.If they are like me they maintain a large collection and don't have the time or desire to get into a long winded net war.One herper comes to mind ,NEVER!!! posted on the net yet he was a wizzard in hatching out large amounts of herps that most people couldn't.RIP Curt!If a question is asked that could be answered by google or the purchase of a good book,I won't bother to respond. If I can help I'm more than willing to help whenever I can.But if the person is lazy, well I don't have time for that!

The bottom line is that this is truly one of the best websites when it comes to providing opportunities for young and old alike to ask questions about a wide range of herps - not just venomous although that is the major theme of this site. And, like many public forums, you are going to have those folks who don't get enough attention at home and have to go out of their way to push each others' buttons and get the attention they can't get anywhere else. Folks come and go but I have found that some of the top of the top in this field continue to help many newbies and show extreme patience in dealing with folks who probably should use google, read books/journals, etc. Kudos to you.
Just gotta take the good with the bad in sites like this but overall, I could only dream of having the opportunity to converse with professionals and well known hobbyists when I was a kid - instead, I relied on daily trips to the library, dragging my parents to Lincoln Park Zoo and Brookfield Zoo and spending countless hours in the field observing and catching herps....perhaps in hindsight, more of the young kids coming up need to do the same.

arin this post was pointless and aggravating. people dont have a bad opinion of you because you are young, but rather because you act your age and practice very poor husbandry. you are making a bad name for yourself by dragging all this on. many people have offered good advice to you but you take it as a personal attack rather than constructive criticism. you should just stop posting unless you have a real question, helpful advice, or something interesting to offer. maybe wait til you have all your snakes in proper caging and share some photos with us. i dont post here very often but i visit the site almost everyday(its my homepage after all) and i owe a lot of thanks to the people who run and visit this site. i like to offer my help when i can but usually someone here can answer a question better than i can. this is also the first place i come when i have a question but things have been going well and i havent expanded on my collection a whole lot lately so i simply just havent been posting. i plan on going from native hots to some exotics sometime this year and when that happens i will certainly be here looking for any info i can on the species of interest. ~bill
