Cool article. I am willing to bet that this new neurotoxin, which they are calling "hellerase," will also be found in some other types of rattlesnakes venom.
There are unconfirmed reports of similar spasms in some older reports of rattlesnake bite.

The more we pull these venoms apart, the more detailed we can get at isolating these various aspects of the elixirs. Many snakes or the rattlesnakes show properties of neurotoxins in the venoms. Contrary to popular belief, not all of the helleri do.
