Venomous Bites this year

So far this year, I have documented three venomous bites to experienced keepers that I know or know of.
At least two of these bites were very serious to very experienced keepers.
PLEASE be careful when dealing with your animals.
It only takes a split second of inattention to alter your life forever.
So many people think that if they get bit, they go to the hospital and get antivenom and everything is all better.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
You could still lose a digit or a limb.
You could wind up with permanent damage to your nervous system, your kidneys, your liver, your heart or any other number of organs.
It doesn't even have to be an exotic venomous bite to drastically endanger your life, limb, or health.
Am I saying that anyone doesn't know what they are doing? NO!
I am just asking that everyone be careful. Snakes generally do not believe in giving second chances.
Wishing the very best for my colleagues who have been bitten.

As many of you know, I just spent two weeks in ICU. Bitten by our native eastern diamondback. I felt neurotoxin reactions in less than 1 minute. I was at the ER in a little over 20 minutes. I was given the antivenom but my blood was already so thinned by the venom, it did not stop the internal bleeding into abdomen.
Guys, I did nothing different from what I had done a 1000 times before with that snake. He was in a feeding response and struck in a angle and direction that I did not think was possible. Karl is 100% correct! Please do show extra caution! This has been the most miserable experience of my life, and I would not want anyone else to ever have to deal with it.

No, I did not count the female with the cobra as a keeper since that is still being investigated.
I did count Chuck. I only mention his name because he has already spoken about his bite here. It is not my intention to talk about people's bites without their consent. I merely want to express concern that people often tend to underestimate the severe consequences of a venomous bite. There is a whole world of damage and hurt between not being bitten and being killed. Just because a bite doesn't kill you, doesn't make everything all right.

My simple snake bite from a yearling Southern copperhead turned into an anaphylactic nightmare, not to mention a hospital bill that I am still paying for 3 years later. Be careful my friends.

Not a badge of honor at all, but did you count my atrox bite which was not posted on forums or in the media?
