Hey,
I was impressed with this Columbia show. There were LOTS of people there and they seemed to be spending a little bit of money. I rode with a friend and he got an awesome pair of cobras. I am full up on the number of animals I want, so I picked up some frozen rats, a book, some plants and a few other what-nots.
There were some vendors I'd never seen at this show before which was good. I was surprised at the number of animals too. There were a LOT of really neat critters. I saw one of the prettiest rhino iguanas I'd ever seen and one of the biggest green iguanas I'd ever seen.
There was a great selection of hots in the venomous section.
So who all was there? Did you get anything cool?

I sure did but the only thing I got was a ball python for my 6 year old. She loves snakes and figured she is old enough to keep these. That's it for me (her). Had alot of fun though. Adam Perry was at the USARK table managing that and that was cool. Wasn't able to attend the auction or fundraiser for them this time, but had fun at the show. Saw a few vens I would have liked to pick up but space sucks right now. Actually ran into some people I haven't seen in a couple years. All in all, worth going like always!

I went as well both saturday and sunday but only for like an hour on sunday. It was a good show, there was a good turn out saturday. Very nice selection of animals. I got two neonate ATBs and a little suntiger tarantula. Most of the stuff was priced decently too, well most of the non venomous stuff anyway.
Did see some little kids running around the hot section though. *shakes head*
Then I overheard a parent telling their very young child to hold their hand and not touch anything when they were walking back there which I appreciated a lot.

I went both days, and stayed pretty much till close-down(you have to literally run me out of that place most of the time, lol-you know us chicks with window-shopping), plus I did stay for the USARK auction Saturday as usual, not wanting to miss out on Limey's "auctioneer" skill, lol. Didn't successfully bid on anything though, not having enough cash to compete for the Seleyar Retic or the Peruvian B.c. longicauda Boa(first real one I've ever seen) put up for bids. I did pick up a really nice young adult female Suriname Boa to breed to my male on Saturday, along with a female Coachwhip(always need more of those)and I actually won a feisty little baby albino Everglades Rat from the National Pet Association raffle today, first thing I've won since the third grade, when I won a pair of cheap plastic binoculars at a high school football game. Saturday's turnout was much better than today's, with a lot more buying going on, possibly due to the St. Patrick's Day celebration going on in Columbia at the same time, which probably resulted in a good "overflow", and was also likely for the smaller turnout today...hang-overs! There was a way bigger selection of inverts at this show, though not as many Colubrids, but some really nice "hots" and a good selection of Boas and Pythons without it being just a "Ball Python and Leopard Gecko" show. All in all, a good way to spend a weekend.

Too many people walking around with snakes draped on their necks. I saw adult boas, Blood pythons, Burmese pythons and Ball pythons being carried recklessly when they shouldn't have been carried at all. And what was with the people carrying dogs around the show? I am all for handling your reptiles, but I don't think a crowded reptile show is the place to do it, especially with kids running around and the scent of rats and mice in the air. I hope that show officials tighten up on this in the future.
On a positive note, there were lots of folks and a good variety of animals. There was also a noticeable absence of large numbers of wild collected animals (this could be because our local snakes are still hidden away). The wild-caught stuff that was there was in decent condition.

Alexander, it is not likely that the Nit-Wits who run the shows will ever do anything about folks running around with snakes draped over them, or, about allowing dogs into the shows.
People have complained about the dogs for years, and nothing has ever been done. There have been several incidences where two pit bulldogs almost got into fights, and there is also some moron who often attends the show with a huge ugly looking wolf hybrid. Eventually, someone will be badly hurt by one of those dogs.
Best Regards

Why not Randal ?
It is on private property.
Folks can not bring dogs into grocery stores unless hey are guide dogs.
Why can they not set rules saying no dogs allowed into the show ?
What if the person had a freeking pet chimp or tiger or zebra, would they be allowed to bring that ?
Best Regards
