I have had this problem before at the zoo I work at.
Guide dogs are allowed anywhere the public is allowed. i.e., reptile expos.
This is from the ADA
In the United States, the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits any business, government agency, or other organization that provides access to the general public from barring guide dogs. However, religious organizations are not required to provide such access. The Fair Housing Act requires that landlords allow tenants to have guide dogs in residences that normally have a No Pets policy and no extra fees may be charged for such tenants. Whether guide dogs in training have the same rights or not usually falls on each individual state government.
So, yes, guide dogs are allowed anywhere the public has access, including private properties.

What is being questioned is why the sleazy show promoters of the SC shows allow folks to bring NON guide dogs, like wolf hybrids, pit bulls, and lap dogs.
Those are permitted by the shows, and should not be.
Lap dogs? LOL!
John, as I said in another thread, become a Promoter, and you can set your rules as you see fit.

I do believe the promoters of the show should not allow dogs (other than service dogs) into the show, or monkeys (there was a vendor with a tamarin, but it was on a leash). There are certainly liability issues with these animals, as there might also be with having large constrictors in the open.
Restricting these types of things would add some respectibility or credibility to the show (in my mind, at least) and give it less of a flea market feel. I love going to the show and would like to see it continue to be successful.

We are going to do just that.
Better shows will be coming to SC, as it is still one of the states where folks care about personal freedom, and venomous reptile shows can be had. Not many of those left in this country anymore.
However, I am not sure how long that will last. Efforts are being made in the SC legislation to change the reptile laws. And, if the folks in SC allow the USARK NC law to be used, then they be making a big mistake, as that is a lousy law, as it is written.
Hopefully, the SC folks will get together and build a strong group to help keep their venomous reptile keeping rights. That will require them to not blindly accept what ever legislation that USARK suggests, but, to instead make changes to that legislation, so that it can be made into workable law.
Best Regards

I would hardly characterize Kathy and her Repticon team as "sleazy" in any way, shape or form. If you don't like their shows, STAY HOME!! Or, as some of the others have suggested, put up YOUR own money and start your own promotional organization and then you can decide what can and what can't be there. I myself have no problem with the dogs; when you consider that there are Black Mambas and Reticulated Pythons that weigh more than I do(and that's saying a LOT)just sitting around in tubs at these shows, that, to ME-a person who has considerable experience with both dogs and snakes-puts it all into perspective. You can keep ANIMALS other than certified Service animals out of most places, but note that those places do not limit the term "animals" to just DOGS. Most of those places do not permit animals because of perceived health issues. If you allow snakes(including venomous), lizards, rats, birds and frogs, it's illogical to say that dogs and other mammals can't come in due to health concerns. If someone's dog is unsocialized and aggressive, they will have to leave with it, but by far the vast majority of the dogs, including the "pit bulls" and that so-called "ugly"(I'm guessing that John either hates all canids in general or has a preference for little foo-foo dogs)wolf-dog that used to show up with her owner were very well-mannered, FAR more so that many of the children running around.
The situation with the people, many of whom were folks who'd either brought in an animal to sell/trade or people who'd just bought one, walking around with snakes around their necks WAS addressed more than once on Saturday, when the show was so crowded, and for the most part was gotten under control. If you have a reptile show, there are going to be folks walking around with reptiles. It's pretty much a given. I don't think I'd want to waste time and money to attend a show where everyone just walking around like zombies out of the fear of violating some rule, no other animals other than reptiles or feeders were permitted including personal pets of vendors(many of whom travel quite some distance and can't leave those pets at home alone), and no one could have any animals visible unless they were on a vendor's table.

The dogs really did upset me . Most of the ones who had them were other vendors . Probably the one animal being slung around someones neck that pissed me off , was the asshole representing Pets Gone Wild with the damn adult Blood Python letting small children walk up and pet it . Naturally always aggressive snakes and he's just letting small kids who have touched god knows what .
On my side of things I did very well , i surpassed 4 figures before 2p.m on saturday . Danny and Cathy's crew were awesome and were very professional , even though i had to jump on a table ( LOL )!!! I will be back in June either vending or helping out. Despite what may have happened , It's not coporate Repticon or the shriners that deserve recognition ... The Elrod family put together another great show . And they desererve a round of applause . And someone teach Limey what Pullians name is LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
