Seems to me that the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet have been held hostage for years now.

I agree with Aqua Herp, these 2 channels have been AR hostages for a long time, it is finally official. Anyway, the guy is dead.

If I don't like the programming I either turn off the television or change the channel. Taking hostages seems a bit of a disproportionate response to the perceived offense.

The programming on the Discovery channel has slowly gone from high quality and educational to cheap entertainment over the years. It's sad that they feel they have to stoop to the lowest denominator for ratings.
I don't think I'd be frustrated enough to start taking hostages though...
"Start showing documentaries in 5 minutes or people get hurt!"

I agree with you Luke. what ever happened to "wild discovery"? Now all they play are re-runs of dirty jobs and deadliest catch... Neither are bad shows but I could in all honesstly kinda care less about watching the same crab guys do the same thing over and over every episode.
Hopefully if anything good comes from this situation, the heads of Discover channel will see the many comments people have made on the news article and change the programing back to education instead of drama. Leave the drama to TNT, I wanna learn.
