This has been outlawed in so many states, esp during roundups. I would think a professional pest/animal rescue person who doesn't want to kill the reps would never use this method.

Wow, and apparently he belongs to a "herpetological society". This guy is an idiot! Anyone who even remotely claims to care about nature would know that you don't douse the environment in gas, no matter how "watered down" it may be.

At least, the homeowners called someone to capture and remove the rattlesnakes, despite the nit-wit's methods of using gasoline to drive the snake out of the hiding areas. Hopefully, he re-located the rattlesnakes a few miles down the road.
What they do not realize though, is that if the area is suitable habitat, with food resources for rattlesnakes, is that by removing those two rattlesnakes, they just clear the way for other rattlesnakes to come in and use that same habitat.
The other thing, is that the folks built their house right inside of a western wilderness area. Of course, there will be rattlesnakes already living there.
Best Regards

You have a good point, JZ. It bugs me for someone to buy a house on the lake and then call me because they have water snakes in the rip-rap around their sea wall.
The snakes were there first.

If I bought a house on the lake or a pond, I would be disturbed if there were NOT any snakes!

That was Dan Marchand. He is the curator of Russ Johnson's shady Phoenix herp society. Hate to say it, but I'm not surprised.

I can attest to the shadyness of the phx herp society. They are liars and have no real knowledge of herps outside whats in their backyard. I lived in phx for years and have friends that own several herp stores. They warned me about those guys and I soon found out. They have no business keeping animals at all.

There was a discussion on this issue on their facebook page. They basically said that he got a stiff talking to. The damage has been done and I doubt I will ever respect this society for teaching people this.
