I was wondering if gravid snakes produce more or less venom than others in general. I know that the health of a snake has a lot to do with how much venom is produced but it seems like a healthy gravid snake would be producing more nutrients to feed the eggs she is carrying and I was wondering if this had an effect on the amount of venom as well.
I was just curious and trying to get the attention off of the trolls and this forum back on track. Thanks in advance for your answers.

The ones I have extracted from, I can't say that there was any real difference. Keep in mind two factors, at least on my end:
As a rule I let the snakes give as much, or less, as they gave without applying pressure to the glands. So, I would get varying amounts.
Secondly, I normally didn't extract from known gravids.
In the grand scheme of things, from what I have seen, as well as what I have read, there is no real noted difference in quantity.
Now.....does the profile of the venom change? That's another topic.

Doug, thanks for your answer. I think it would be interesting to do a study on this but I also agree with Tim, I do not like to mess with anything when it is pregnant (human or animal).
