Anybody know anything about a $49,000 snake collection confiscated in South Carolina after a snake bite?

It was North Carolina. I'm told that some of the animals were on breeding loan. Damn shame.

last year NC changed it's requirements on keeping venomous.. the gentleman in question did not have his cages properly label and so they confiscated his animals.. also all native rattlesnakes of NC are protected, whether they are albinos or not.. so even tho it is obvious the albino eastern diamondbacks and albino timber were not wild caught animals he was charged with having protected animals.. and he could prove all animals were captive born and purchased from other states, it did not matter.. so if ya live in NC, make sure your in compliance with all their rules, because Walter got screwed...

Somebody have a list? Would be curious to see the list and see how they came up with the $49K price tag.

I tried to open the link for the list, but my antivirus popped up and told me to avoid the site. I'd like to know as well, but it's still a damn shame a man lost his critters over such petty things.

The way I heard it was he had just as many dead snakes as he did live and they weren't being well taken care of (obviously)but that may be another story im thinking of. I remember hearing about it on the news over dinner back in the summer or fall

Dead snakes in the freezer, that's a common enough thing. Over a long period of time bodies can accumulate, and I know a lot of reptile people that freeze stuff instead of getting rid of it. So that explanation may be simple enough.
