Furthermore, for all you hook fanatics who think hooks are safer then gloves I found these pics and clips online. First here is a pic of an officer from the Miami Dade venom one team ( you know, the people who you call when you get bit and who have their own show on animal planet) holding a monocle cobra that's about 3x the size of mine with the exact gloves I own. Hmmm yea, I am sure they are real irresponsible lol, these are probably some of the most responsible snake handler in the US.
Here is the pic: http://animal.discovery.com/tv-shows/swamp-wars/about-this-show/swamp-wars-about-the-show.htm
Here is another link to the shop Swamp brothers where they are also using my gloves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYU0wFM_Uiw
Also, while you guys were trying to figure out how to put a Gila monster on a snake hook I called Miami dade and asked them about the gloves and they restated what I stated before, 1) the gloves have no inherent flaws 2) They say puncture resistant and not puncture "proof" because there is a weight at which the can actually be punctured, it's just much more then the bite force of any snake and 3) There is a way to hold the snakes so that they do not reach any exposed parts of your body.

Dude you just don't get it. None of this was ever about the efficacy of gloves. The site moderators didn't feel like a pic of someone holding a venomous snake with gloves was appropriate for the classifieds section. That's it, period. Your comparison to a discussion of self envenomation in the discussion section is non sequitur. You seem to be the only person who doesn't get it.

I cant understand why this silly topic is still going on.It is clear that you want to use the gloves ,and encourage others to use them. Than continue. Just put it into this thought,if I was to pick up dog crap off the ground I would rather use a shovel instead of gloves, because if I fall over I will not land in it with the shovel, with the gloves my face is in it.And I would not use the examples you site as experts tv time doesn't make you an expert if so Sean Connery would really be a secret agent. So lets get back to the real reason for this web site. How is the snake doing anyway?

The bottom pic is the one I deleted. I've never seen the other other one. But I would have deleted it also. Yes, I believe hooks are safer simply because the snakes head is never less than 40 inches away from any part of my body. I never have to worry about a glove manufacturer's claims or disclaimers. Take care, Marty

If you want to use gloves, use gloves.
Telling us that Miami Dade officers use them or that the "Swamp Brothers" TV personalities endorse them does not, in any way affect the way we administer THIS site.
The difference between discussion threads and advertisements should not require explanation.
I guess the bottom line is that this is a site which is monitored and administered. We try to reach a happy medium with the folks who choose to use the site and the standards that we aim for. This is not always possible. I am sorry that you feel that you were discriminated against. That does not change the minds of the administrators who made the decisions about your ads.

I see gloves as an "extra layer of safety" to add to other safe handling practices you already use. Anything that you do while wearing gloves, that you would NOT do without wearing them is putting dependence on them being puncture proof and is therefore, careless in my opinion. Take care, Marty

Dude I was on your side and I still agree with your argument, but what you said about self immunization is wrong. Its not unmeasured amounts and it is scientifically proven to work, how do you think we make antivenom now genius? Venom immunotherapy while not currently endorsed by the FDA for snakes is supported for Bees and it will only be a matter of time before this changes. It's amazing to me the blatant denial people have for SI. You all cling to scientific terms and scientific practice and yet when someone starts talking about SI you claim witchcraft. Read about immunization in general, read about antivenom production. Think.

The original topic had nothing to do with SI, so why is it being brought up? create another thread, otherwise, here it is a useless digression. There have been many points made, some valid and others not so much. But I think the main thing to take away from this thread is that the site moderators can and will remove photos depicting activity that is not inline with with the guidelines of this community; it is a right sight administration reserves. This is a free service! Show some humility and follow the guidelines. Now lets get back to subject matter that actually will add substance to the hobby.
