I have been studying Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes for the last year now and I have constructed a very safe cage/lock box for venomous snakes. I placed limestone rocks, dirt and some local vegatation from the areas where I find the snakes that I have been studying. I have only kept and studied one snake at a time for 2 weeks before relocating them, most were panic calls for snake removal. My question is...Before I keep any WDB's, how do I go about winterizing them, and for how long? I am interested in learning about their behavior and interaction with eachother during the cold months, first hand. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If your going to winterize them, then I would cover thier cages and drop the temp to 60 degrees give or take a degree. Keep water in with them and maybe off a meal in a month or so. I don't think you will see any interaction out them other than the occasional movement for water. I am no expert but that is how my partners do it.
