Hi All:
I have a neonate Death Adder that despite my best effort (soaks & high humidity in cage) is having problems shedding; especially the eye caps. I soaked him and "peeled" the skin off him but could not remove the eye caps. I used every method I've used over the years successfully, fine forceps & tape without any luck. Natually, sweating bullets while doing this, it's not what I consider to be fun. He is not a happy camper either doing his damnest to chomp me.
Any thoughs?
Thanks,
Al

I have an adult female Terciopelo (B. asper) that has the same problem. She has a rostral that is rubbed smooth, and thus cannot split the skin to shed her head clean. I typically, remove the caps if every other shed does not come off clean.
One thing I've used, which helps, is soft contact solution. After soaking, etc. I will pin her, and apply the soft contact solution on both eyes, which helps to loosen the eyecaps.
Also, anymore I typically, put the snake in an airtight box, and use Isoflorane to knock her out---not that she tries to bite--she's rather easy to pin- but I can't control 7' of thrashing body very easily and I don't want to injure her. I worry about vertebrae separating when she struggles.
