I live in Georgia, and I can tell you that
you do not need a permit to house a caiman
or a crocodile. However, you must obtain a
permit from the Georgia Department of Natural
Resources Wildlife Division to keep alligators.
These are pretty tough to get, especially for
alligators.

I also live in Georgia and had the same question recently because I wanted a caiman. As for alligators, to obtain a permit in Georgia you must be doing so for educational or alligator farming purposes. To LEGALLY own a caiman or crocodile in Georgia a license is also required. The license for crocodiles and caimans are different from that of an alligator. This permit has several requirements. It is a Wild Animal License. There are very stiff insurance requirements which you have to provide proof of as well as specific enclosure requirements which will be inspected before a license is issued. You also must be a breeder or dealer and depending on the county in which you live, you may have to have a business license. I hope this helps.
