This petition is an important step towards ending the damaging practice of unlicensed venomoid surgery. It only takes a second to sign this petition and make a difference. The herpetoculture community needs your help.

Clarification.......This petition is in response to the FACT that the overwhelming majority of venomoids on the market are produced by unlicensed laymen with no qualifications or credentials. These procedures are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in captive venomous snakes. These procedures give radical anti-herp groups such as PETA and others added ammunition against the herpetoculture community as a whole. These unlicensed procedures are already covered by laws that address animal cruelty and the practice of veterinary medicine without a license. The animals in question are reptiles.....this is the only reason that these procedures are still allowed to go unchecked.

Well let me ask a question is the petition to stop venomoids as a whole or are you and your organization tring to stop this practice all together, I do not feel that venomoids are totaly wrong but like you stated hack jobs are wrong, illegall, and unethical
just a question and a comment

This petition is not affiliated with any organization. It was written by a respected herpetoculturist who has thoroughly researched the contents of the petition. A number of respected members of the venomous herp community have reviewed this document and aided in its creation. I was not personally involved in the creation of this document. This petition only seeks to curtail the ILLEGAL production of those venomoids produced by unqualified and unlicensed individuals.

Yes, that is true. The bill will require proof from a veterinarian for sale, right now, there is no such thing. When and if it does go into effect, all venomoids will have to have proper documentation that a LICENSED vet properly did the surgery. This should take care of the majority of the venomoids you see in the classifieds if enforced. Which in result should make the venomoid hacker scumbags ( sorry Karl ) have to resort to some other illegal activity, or get a job.
Hopefully, their little garage/basement capitalistic ventures will come to an end, as will venomoids as a whole. The one thing I have seen thus far that I do like, is the fact that the snakes prices are getting increasingly lower. Hopefully they will get low enough so that it isn't worth the time or effort. It pains me to see what some people will do to make money.
