Hi, Im going to Stephen C. Foster state park in the okeefenokee for a day and then Im going to The Osceola National Forest in Florida for a day or two. I want to know of any spots in the forest where I can be garunteed to find venomous snakes i.e. cottonmouth, pigmy, eastern diamondback,coral,...I need to find a place to camp like a state park or something. This will probably be my last "big" snake journey this year so I need to take lots of photos.

You will find a lot of Osceola hard to field herp because of the dense vegetation, but if you simply cruise SR 250 after sundown you should see plenty of Cottonmouths as well as a Canebrake or two. It's possible to find Diamondbacks if you drive some of the back roads through non-flooded areas, but only by day. I have never found a Dusky Pygmy in Osceola, but they ARE there, as habitat is right for them. If you decide to cruise the main road at night, be watchful of coming cars. Although traffic is usually light, people do commonly speed through the area. Good luck and have fun! -Mike
