Well it finally happened; no I was not tagged but was ripped off by a thief posing as a breeder dealer. I will not use their name at this time, for it serves no purpose but I will keep watch. If they post another classified here or on Kingsnake.com where this problem occured I will sound a warning. The purpose of this writing is to inform fellow herpers that their are channels that can be followed legally that may lead to the return of your funds or at least get you a "pound of their flesh".
If you send $ send it by USPS money order and US mail. This squarely puts any fraudlent act in the hands of the US postal police. These nice folks actually do investigate the situation and have an do put people in jail for this sort of transgression.
They send you a nice letter to you and the offender allowing them to "come clean" and resolve the issue within 30 days. You also receive a form to send into the USPS Criminal Investigative Service that you have to fill out and let them know if the situation was resolved to your satisfaction. They even give you an envelope stamped on their Dime! If the Thief chooses to ignore the warning the matter is then refered to a United States Attorney for prosecution.
Their names also get entered into a National Database to track this type of crime.
I just thought everyone should know that they don't just have to get mad; they can get even too.
Remember the wonderful flag of the American Revolutionary War: Don't tread on me!

a check should always be done on anyone you intend to front something to, whether it be money or animals...
www.faunaclassifieds.com/index.php
is a good place to do a search...
I have foregone many "deals" because I was less than sure about the trustworthiness of the other party...
both when I was the buyer and when I was selling something....
better safe than sorry...
once you're out your money, it's VERY difficult to get it back...
good luck,
Steve
